From Righteous To Villain

Description
Auriel spent his entire life playing by the rules. He worked hard, helped others, and believed in the power of the law. The world repaid him with betrayal, exploitation, and, ultimately, with a pitiful death. But fate had other plans. Just as one life ended, another immediately began. He was reborn in a foreign world as a young mercenary, waking up surrounded by corpses, lost in a land where power is taken, not given.
He knows that to have a fulfilling life this time around, he can't only hope that doing the right thing will be a reward in itself. He knows that he is no hero. And that heroes don't get paid... So, he is done being a pawn. If the world wants to take advantage of him again, he’ll take up the gloves and deal with it—on his own terms.
Author's notes:
Hey-ho! First things first, this is my first try at writing an anti-hero type of MC. I will try not to do it in the edgy way but more in the "I play by my own rules" type of way as he tries to cut out a slice of pie for only himself in the new world. Of course, not from the get-go, as I want to develop the character gradually, focusing on how his personality blooms and shifts throughout the story. If all goes well, he will slowly grow from a nobody to a proper underworld boss by the end.

- AnRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It’s a super good book and I love it but I don’t think the Author is dedicated to this book and I don’t think he’s gonna follow through so I just feel like it needs more more like the author needs to be more dedicated to this craft because this idea in the way he was doing it so far is so good I’m looking forward to if he finishes this
- Noel CRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book exceeded my expectations from the very first chapter. The author’s writing is both elegant and clear, creating an immersive experience where every scene feels alive. The pacing is finely tuned—fast enough to keep the story moving, yet measured enough to allow the characters and themes to breathe. Each character is layered and authentic, with strengths, flaws, and motivations that make them memorable long after you close the book.
What impressed me most is how the story balances entertainment with meaning. Beyond the twists and turns, there’s a depth that sparks reflection, offering insights into human nature, resilience, and the choices that shape us. The dialogue feels natural, the settings are described with just the right detail, and the tension builds in a way that makes the final chapters especially rewarding.
For readers who enjoy stories with both heart and substance, this book is a standout. It invites you to feel, to think, and to keep turning the pages. While those looking only for light escapism may find its thoughtful pacing slower, anyone open to its rhythm will discover a truly rewarding read. It’s the kind of book that lingerie one you’ll want to revisit and recommend. And I hope it becomes a big star
