A classic story of fighting tyranny, but one that avoids major clichés. Neither the world nor the characters are caricatures.
The evil empire is properly evil, but has a logical and coherent origin that explains its ideology, and while the villains lack depth, they have concrete goals and don't do evil just to be artificially detestable.
The two protagonists are nuanced: Galen is intelligent enough to understand from the start that something is wrong with his employers (a rare occurrence in stories where the hero first works for the villains), but hesitates for a long time to betray them, because only they can send him home and because they are manipulators skilled at appearing respectable. Aria is proud, strong-willed, and courageous despite her suffering, but consumed by her hatred of humans, which often prevents her from thinking intelligently.
The chemistry between the two characters is promising, but I can't say much about it yet because they only meet at the end of the first book. Galen's desire to protect Aria is touchingly sincere, and Aria is enjoyable as she struggles to overcome her resentment. For me, it's their relationship that makes the story most interesting: two people who are opposed by many things, forced by circumstances to fight together against implacable forces, and who gradually build a true mutual trust.

Give all the general adventure slop I come across here. I was surprised to find this gem. This story has an good plot with motivated and completely protagonist. With truly evil villains. And a world that is slowly being revealed. It has a good balance of show and tell. I genuinely look forward to seeing where this goes.

The end of the world isn't the end of everything. I just started reading this and I enjoyed the first few chapters very much and will contine for sure. I love when I find something that is already deep into the story so i can binge it. Looks to be a fun holiday weekend.

    This story is good.
It does all the things a story should do, and there aren't any issues I could particularly point out. The world is a regular fantasy world with elves and dwarves and monsters. The magic system is well enough written, nothing super new, but still well done. The characters are good too. Nobody jumps out as 2 dimensional and all the characters seem to have motivations for their actions. I did not notice any errors when it came to Grammer, the story flowed well with none of the confusing phrasing and paragraph structure you sometimes see on this site. So far I like where the plot is going, and everything seems to be going in a good direction. The Only complaint I have is that one fight scene feels like it goes on for a little too long, but that is mostly a minor problem. Overall, I highly recommend this if you are looking for another fantasy story to read. It's nothing revolutionary, but it's good. 9/10
Reviews need to be 200 words long to be advanced, which helps positively affect the rating so: The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't, by subtracting where it is, from where it isn't, or where it isn't, from where it is, whichever is greater, it obtains a difference, or deviation

It's a too preachy for my taste. The author has some opinions. It's fine to have opinions, but I am not interested in the author's viewpoint. I decline to listen further. The writing itself is okay. The character growth is a bit narrow, but not bad. There were no surprises. I have only read a small fraction, but I already know how the story progresses and how it will end.
