Description

Alex Summers was an army grunt stationed in the boonies of the Alaskan countryside. That was before he and a couple of his buddies got stranded in a forest straight out of his nightmares. Now, trapped on another world, he spends most of his time travelling, seeing new things, and killing them. It's everything the army recruiter promised and more.

I’ve read the first 2 chapters and I honestly love it. If the author keeps up the quality in writing I have seen thus far, I can see this being a story I follow and await chapters with bated breath. I will give a better review once I catch up and learn more about the story. But I agree, Summers is an asshole.

Good stuff. Has a lot of potential if the author keeps up. Well written and entertaining and has start to a newish storyline. Fortunately the brief inclusion of zombie/skinwalkers went away quick and hopefully never returns. Few grammar and spelling errors that are minor for RR.

I normally stay clear from stories involving the US army, as they often feel uninspired and one dimensional to me. But boy oh boy was I wrong for thinking that.
This story has it all. Heartfelt moments, surprisingly funny moments, and a good pacing that makes you feel the unforgiving nature of the world.
Here a few small complaints to to justify not giving it 5 stars in everything:
1. There are a few grammatical mistakes to be found, though nothing too glaring
2. Some characters are left by the wayside even though they have problems and struggles that could have been explored more. One of the worst offenders just got killed off in the recent chapters...
3. Lastly, it is hard to gauge how much ammunition and and explosives they have. Whether or not a difficult encounter used up so much that they don't have enough for another one or are completely fine.

I came in here with no expectations except some overused military tropes being thrown here and there with a occasional dumb side character choices. Thankfully I was proven wrong.
The beginning of the story had me skeptical since I like details in a novel but not overly too much. This novel brings apocalypse with a mix of alien horror that I just cannot say no to. Add the military and some guns into the mix and you have a flaming hot novel on your plate to read.
Please give this novel a chance. A lot of the novels I read don’t get the credit it’s due. Just try reading this one, it’s too underrated with the low amount of reviews and readers it has.

A team of soldiers are sick in a medieval world with bullshit monsters.
The premise might seem overdone, but it's done in a dark and not fantasy way which makes it very engaging. The kinda father-daughter relation between the main characters is sweet and drives character development well. It gets more alien world destruction parasite takeover in book 2, which is worse but still decent quality.
The story is not on hiatus though, it's completed.

A good start. I'm only at chapter 17, but so far it's good. I usually don't like the whole group with modern weapons going up against bows and arrows genra. However it's been pretty realistic so far. The monsters are very alian. There isn't any orcs or goblins, more like muntant dinasaurs. Still it's well worth your time. I hope the author is able to keep it up.
