Wolf hybrids are increasingly becoming an endemic problem for the state of New Hampshire, due to unconcerned breeders and people that bite off more than they can chew. When Finbar, a high-content wolf-dog, grows too big for his owner to handle, he is abandoned in the most cruel way imaginable; drowned in an icy river in the White Mountains, Finbar was ready to accept his fate and succumb to the cold. However, to his shock, he does not die but lives, due to the help of a kind young she-wolf.Going forward, Finbar must learn how to survive in the wild, running with no place to call home. With the help of the friends he meets along the way Finbar forms a pack of misfits. Together, they search for a place in the world to call their own.

This book is being written with the intent to publish digitally and in paperback/hardcover.

What To Expect:

- Mentally strong, confident main character.

- A style of writing geared toward a general adult audience. This story is not for children. There will be violence, animal abuse, combat and lots of death.

- Outcast to hero; this story deals with themes of rejection and abandonment, as well as finding one's place in the world.

- Family drama and strife.

- Romance; the main character and his lover must fight for their right to exist together.

- Isekai; get ready to experience an isekai a little different than you've experienced before.

What Not To Expect:

- Smut, descriptive sex scenes, etc.

- A goofy animal story.

- Plot armor.

- A cliché story.

Overall
I really liked how this story pulled me in from the start. The mix of supernatural action and deep character moments just worked for me. The fast pace keeps things exciting, but there’s also enough depth that I actually cared about what was happening to the characters, especially Finbar as he tries to find his place in a world that doesn’t easily accept him.
Style
The writing felt solid to me. It’s clear, with a good rhythm that kept me reading, which is hard to find on RR. I really liked how the natural world is described—everything from the icy river to the dense forests is vivid and easy to picture, making you feel like you’re right there with Finbar. The action scenes are sharp and intense, but what really stood out to me was the way the author balances those with quieter, more reflective moments. The dialogue between Finbar and Willow especially stood out. It gave me a real sense of their personalities and struggles, and it made the story flow naturally, which I appreciated.
Story
The plot is engaging and moves at a pace that kept me reading. I enjoyed how the themes of self-discovery and finding belonging are mixed with a high-stakes narrative of survival in the wild. From the start, the stakes are clear and the story doesn’t waste time. There’s a strong sense of progression, with each chapter building on the last and introducing new challenges for Finbar as he learns more about himself and the world around him. The world-building is intriguing, especially the way the author portrays the tension between the human world and the natural world, though there were moments where I found myself wanting more context to fully understand the rules of this world.
Character
For me, Finbar and Willow really make this story. Their dynamic adds a lot of depth, and I could really feel their personalities through their interactions. Finbar’s internal struggles with his identity as a wolf-dog make him relatable, while Willow’s strength and resilience provide a nice cont

Finbar's beginning was very hard for me to read. The descriptions of animal cruelty and betrayal were painful.
Having said that, the story is beautifuly written. Finbar is extremely relateable, for all that he's a wolf dog hybrid, and his quest for a family and a place to belong resonate well with me.
One thing that baffles me is the description of the story as an isekai story.
As far as I can tell, all of the story takes place on Earth, with nobody changing worlds.
This doesn't detract anything from the story, of course, but the choice of describing it as isekai is strange.
Style:
The story is well written, and flows well. I'd probably prefer slightly longer chunks, but other than that it's good.

As I've mentioned above, the story is good, and resonates well.
The "outsider coming in from out of nowhere and falling in love with the princess" trope may be old and well-used, but there's a reason it's such.
The added facet of it being a wolf/dog hybrid, and therefore really with no place of his own, just makes it more poignant.
Grammar:
There are a few minor issues, but nothing serious that hurt my enjoyment of the story.
Character:
The characters are probably the best parts of this story.

The grammar is pretty good, enhancing the narrative's flow and making the emotional impact even stronger. The tension builds steadily, with the snowy, isolated setting providing the perfect backdrop for this dark and heart-wrenching tale. This powerful start leaves a lasting impression, and I am eagerly looking forward to where Finbar's journey will take him next.
