Description

I have removed my book from Amazon for now, as I have decided I can do much better with the editing :) Currently, I am re-working my whole series. No change in story, just quality of work. Thanks for your feedback and interest thus far :)

How strong must we grow, to overcome the threats of our past?

Fawn lives in a settler's village, under the ungoverned repression of a cruel militia, known to the villagers as the Cast. Her homeland is a place where pain and misery are such a part of daily life that she knows nothing else.

When her family is torn apart, Fawn’s journey takes her into the wilderness entirely alone, hunted and in desperation. Eventually rescued by a monster that has been feared throughout generations, she slowly learns what it is to leave her victim life behind.

Follow her evolution from vulnerable child, robbed of all that nourished her, through to understanding survival, and on to achieve power at the highest of costs.

  • This story deserves more reviews. The story starts of dark. Like really grimdark. It then gets worse for the poor protagonist. Much, much worse. Payoff is scarce, and I'm not usually into dark horror. However, the writing is good, and the protagonist seems…

Stumbled across this story and it's been enjoyable if very dark so far. In the grim darkness of the far future is what it feels like. Interesting world building so far and I'm interested to see where it goes from here. The monster is fascinating and I can wait to see how it interacts and thinks with the main character.

The story starts of dark. Like really grimdark. It then gets worse for the poor protagonist. Much, much worse. Payoff is scarce, and I'm not usually into dark horror.
However, the writing is good, and the protagonist seems like she might be worth investing in.
So I'm glad I pushed through what seems to the worst of tragedy part for now. It gets real interesting.
    YMMV

Good Gods, but this is intense.
I do not know what world from whence this darkened, grisly tale did spring forth, but upon my word it is astonishing.
The writing is immaculate, the anxiety generated palpable, the disgust for the status quo of this fiction's world intense.
I am not a fan of horror. Some of the gruesome depictions are beyond terrible. As is the callousness of the "Superiors".
It all crystallises into a frightfully detailed, thoroughly engaging, dystopian nightmare upon which I find myself hooked!
Edit: had to come back and give it one more star!!

I've been following the chapter releases of this book over on Patreon, and it is a fantastic read.
The author has created an engaging story with some real emotion peppered through.
You get really entangled in the main character's welfare, and there are some strong cheer and cringe moments for her, you can really feel her story.
The world the author has created for this tale is fascinating, somewhat familiar in it's social constructs, but then you discover some other element, and you are reminded this is not Earth at all.
The graphic violence is not too terrible, I would be comfortable recommending it for young teen readers with a penchant for a bit of horror or gore. I loved a good gripping horror book when I was that age!
The structure of the book is very easy to read, but with fabulous vocabulary, a few real gem words that you don't encounter too often. I found the paragraph layout very easy, particularly on mobile, enabling a quick lunch break from reality on my phone.
Overall, I am totally enthralled in this story and eager to see what comes around every bend with each chapter. Can't wait to read more!
