- SINCEERoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm not usually the one to write reviews, but I think it's really unfair that the only review for this story is so unreasonable:
"I like the characters, the story is great but these daily chapters aren't long enough for me so I give a bad review"
Hopefully this review will explain some things for those yet to read this underrated novel.
STORY
It's the same story you read a million times: a guy gets transported to another world, but instead of getting so OP power or leveling up in a dungeon, because of misunderstanding even thou he can't cook he gets mistaken for a genius chef and ends up chosen as a personal chef to the princess.
The start is definitely slow, and the story takes time to setup and introduce the world, but the story is progressing nicely. Some complain about not enough action, which I don't really get, it's a story about cooking, how much action did you expect? I'm at chapter 20 right now and story is really picking up.
STYLE
The story is told from MC perspective, with a lot of strategizing and thinking in his head. The style is not too serious, comedic. The plot is all about survival in another world, while trying to cook modern food in medieval times. There was foreshadowing for a conflict, but there is no villain introduced yet (ch20).
CHARACTERS
I really like the sarcastic, joking yet realistic MC. There are a lot of different characters introduced, but all of them have different voice. I think Clem is a bit inconsistent and too intelligent for a child, but she still makes me laugh, so I'm not complaining.
GRAMMAR
As good as it gets on RRL. Barely any mistakes.
OVERALL
A really good and funny novel, that is really underrated because of slow start. Give it a go and if you like realistic, slice of life-ish stories in another world, I guarantee you will like Fast Food in Another World. - RznRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0For a cooking isekai, the MC really does not have a lot of skills in cooking and is recreating things with a minimal amount of knowledge. It has some fun scenes, but Aili is no chef. While being aware of different things, even when it comes to cooking oil - our MC is pretty incompetent and becomes an unrealistic joke. The story is passable, but you are not going to be learning cooking from this story and judging from how the MC doesn't understand cooking oil and wanted to wait until it was boiling - a very dangerous thing - don't copy his antics. The prose and dialogue are pretty average, but I am mildly concerned about the cooking which is the focal point of this work.
