THIS STORY HAS ABSOLUTELY NO CORALS. NO MATTER WHAT THE AUTHOR SAYS, NO MATTER WHAT THE TEXT SAYS, IT HAS NO CORALS. ANY PERSON WHO CLAIMS THIS HAS CORALS IS A HACK AND SENTENCED TO DEATH AS SOON AS I BECOME EMPEROR OF MANKIND.
With the joke/rant over, let's go into the actual meat of the review: What is False root ascencion?
Slight spoilers ahead.
It's a cultivation story that quickly goes from an underdog situation to a sort of blessed one situation. Dalian finds a cheat and uses it to not die after winning a battle against goblins with the awesome power of consuming more pills than the members of an 80's rock band and my grandpa together. Thus he goes from being a mortal to having a life element spirit root and becoming basically a healer so far. We have the promise that life qi can be used to fucking kill people but that will come in the future, probably. Given he can create organs with magic, i guess Dalian could kill people with the boundless power of cancer eventually, but this is just a theory.
let's now go over every category of the review, shall we?
Style: It starts off slightlyb purple in the first paragraphs but it soon gets better. really straight up style, which i guess is good for a Xianxia. The description of the action, maybe, could be done better. Nonetheless, the style is overall pretty solid, it doesn't get in the way of the enjoyement of the story or characters.
Story: I talked a bit in the spoiler, but, so far, it hasn't developed much. It has set the seeds of suspicion for a particular character and it all points out to evil/demonic cultivators becoming a issue in the future. I am nto wowed, but it is well done, the stakes are being set, and the characters seem to be heading to a collision with a big antagonistic force yet to be revealed. It includes an ostensibly freshwater lake with... with no corals, nope, no corals at all.
Grammar: some mistakes attributable to the few editing passes of web serialization can be spotted, and there are sl

I recommend reading the first chapter to see if it is for you.
Although the synopsis made me optimistic, I just couldn't enjoy the novel. I had to skim. It's not like the grammar is super bad or anything, it's just that the flow is weird. As a reader, it is hard to describe. The prose is just that of an immature author basically. It should get better with practice though so don’t be discouraged dear author.
The author does slip up sometimes and change into third person omniscient though.
The names of the characters that were introduced in the first two chapters were weird. Not even Chinese, just gibberish that sounds vaguely western. Maybe give more eastern sounding names is my advice since the current ones broke my immersion.
From my skimming, the main reason I started this fic was the mc's power and it didn't show up in the first couple chapters. I might have missed it but I don't think so - I am an experienced skim demon. Maybe try to implement the hook of the story earlier next time.
