Fading mask

Azul was a child born in the outskirts with a genetic defect, the inability to speak... or even produce sound past breathing through his mouth. It went without saying, the outer districts were not the kind of place where a mute could get by easily, talk less of one who stood out in a crowd for several reasons.

Perhaps life would have been a true hell for him, perhaps he would have been long dead, had Lister not taken care of him, had he not existed... but he did, and as such most of his time was spent sleeping, and wandering the vast fields that were his own mind, trying to recall things that never happened, until one day... he did.
