If you read the original ver. You will love every chapter of this reboot, the world building is better the original characters has more depth to them and the new character that was added I absolutely adore I can only imagine how great the next chapters will be.it's like being a beta tester on an MMO then played the game at full release and realize that new features has been added and the graphics was improved.
However if your new to this fic then I suggest you put this on your read later list maybe once it reaches 50 chapters because the pace is slow and in 17 chapters its still in the prologue and nothing much has happened yet and you will be left wanting more.

It’s a good novel but it makes me depressed so far. So overall it is Good but depressing and slow paced. The protagonist just can’t catch a break in the prologue. His family sucks and is abusive. The only one who doesn’t deserve a railgun to the cranium is his younger sister, and possibly his mother but she definitely doesn’t deserve any mother of the year trophies.
after the prologue arc, not much has happened yet, but we are starting to see even more family based trauma on the horizon. Expect tragedy and depressing content but it can only go up from here with a family like this. I can’t wait to see him finally free and honestly him just straight up leaving with his younger sister would be a satisfying end to the novel.

This story is amazing. Never before have I ever been so engaged, that I constantly come back every god damn day to see whether there has been an update.
Author, if you are reading this, then I want to let you know that if I had the money, I would have literally paid you to write more chapters. It is just that good.

Wonderful story, not everyday you can see sciences and magic Duke it out. I read the original story amd I'm so happy to see it back. Please keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to seeing more and how the Mc progresses. Especially curious if he will actually leave the planet

This is an excellent reboot for on one of the first stories that I ever read on Royal Road.
The reboot is a little slow to get started, but give it a chance.  It is worth it!
We are going to find out which is greater science or magic!
Keep up the great work Blacky!

This is my favorite science vs magic fic to this date. 5/5 no doubt about it.  Most stories with this kind of theme are so serious trying to make science beat magic as grounded to reality as possible  that they forgot to make it actually fun and entertaining to read. But this story is just perfect in balance. READ IT YOU WONT REGRET IT .

Well, not everyday you see a great story that strikes at all the major AND minor points with bullseye accuracy, gotta say this story and its predecessor got me into reading in the first place.
Style. This story is about a young boy, exiled from his family for how he was born, and his struggles to survive when he escapes his prison and his journey to leave his world. It's about tech vs magic, an uncommon trope that isn't very popular in the industry due to many other infamous works. This story however perfectly sets up the environment and the characters to properly show the difference between the two ideals, one is of body, while the other is of mind. The MC's childhood shows his trauma, and also his resentment towards magic, which molds him in the future as he grows. I'm not going to delve much in spoilers but let's just say he couldn't resist the forbidden fruit of knowledge. The tags may put people off, but do not be disturbed by them. While the 'romantic' part (if you are reading this story for romance stuff tho you may be in the wrong part  of Royal Road, but like do continue the story, no regrets promised) isn't fully fleshed out and told the emotions can be felt between the characters even in their early interactions.
Story. Everything lines up together very well with the progress of the mc's journey around the world. From his birth to his childhood to the present events are happening which tie in part to the MC's goals and serves as challenging roadblocks that he must overcome. There isn't much I can say without spoiling much of the story so just read for yourself.
Grammar. This was one of the main problems in the early parts of the original novel, although it eventually improved over time. This new novel however starts off flawlessly with its grammar structure and punctuation. So far throughout the story there were only a few minor mistakes that could be seen if you really read through a chapter multiples times but it's pretty much close to perfection. Not m

Vaguely remember seeing this years ago, it was a fun read if not needing editing / clean up.
The author has improved in many aspects and I hope the trend continues.
Slight bias, as I enjoy the idea behind the story and want to see how it ends.
I am now typing more words for the 50 word requirement for the review submission.

I won't go too in-depth as I'm not that skilled in writing reviews but I'll do my best to give a view for new readers.
I'm an old followers of the oringal version of this series written several years ago.
The original series had a very good concept and hook (IMO) of a character living in a fantasy world without mana. He got born into an extremely prominent magic household, like literally the his dad is the king of mages and his sister is a progedy never seen before. He is born with no mana which is literally unheard of and he's seen as a curse to his family and makes them look weak and causes various problems for them. His dad and older siblings treat him horribly and most other people don't even acknowledge him. His only allies are his Mom, maid and younger sister.
His maid has no real power to help him, his mom becomes torn between her favoritism towards him, her other children and her duty to the kingdom. His sister is the only person that will go all out for him but being a child has a hard time making any waves, not to mention that an unparalleled magic genius she is his greatest envy.
As the name implies he gets exiled due to some reasons and his mother, who he believed to be his only real ally, signs off on it. It, in a way, ends up being his sisters fault, even though she had no intentions of harming him and was simply trying to help him and be with him.
The original series was pretty much the same in concept and was highly entertaining but it lacked something that professional stories have. It's very difficult to tangibly explain but it had to do with story and dialogue flow. It just felt very off, and not good. It's a story I enjoyed but probably would not recommend to friends and thought of more as a guilty powertrip pleasure.
However, the rewrite completely makes up for all of that. I gave it five stars because it deserves it. All the dialogue errors are completely fixed and they flow super well. I've genuinely never seen this kind of abrupt and vast imp

Alright. I will write why I gave each score. (As of chapter 20, don't trust what the "REVIEWED AT" says, it's bugged) I will not compare with the original version as the original doesn't exist anymore, and the reboot should be viewed as its own work, not compared to what was before.
Style: 4.5 out of 5. The pacing is slow. It is detailed and slow, but it still has a decent pace. However, what redeems it all, is that I love every second of it. We are left with many chapters detailing the life of the MC, his relationship with many side characters, who will or will not (we don't know yet) be relevant in the future. We even get quite a few chapters detailing the side characters' relationships between each other, which adds to the immersion, and gives a feeling that the world doesn't circle around the MC, like many generic novels do nowadays. It feels natural and very good. Every chapter feels like a slow grind, but I keep wanting more at the end of every chapter (and I do not like slow paced novels in general so that's a feat !)
Story: 4 out of 5. As I write the review, we're still in the very early stages of the novel (Chapter 20, let's say we're just at the end of the "Prologue" if there ever is one). So I can't judge for sure how good the plot is. However, from what I've read, it seems complete and believable enough. (By the way this review is no spoil) What looks like political plots seem to brew, along with what looks like a nice family feud between MC and his family. What already happened was pretty good too. Can't say more without spoiling (PS: read the novel lol)
Grammar: 5 out of 5. Grammar seems flawless from what I've seen. The grammar nazi in me tells me that I did find some mistakes somewhere, but I'm not sure, and if they did happen, then they are so few and far in between that I didn't notice. Vocabulary seems quite superb too. I rarely find words or verbs that repeat themselves and I often find synonyms. Very refreshing.
Character: 5 out of 5. I have not
