- Puffer27Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This novel has very detailed world building, which is not for those who are looking for a light read. However, if you're willing to commit then I'll let you know that I personally found this to be quite a treat.
Some of the action scenes are ridiculously magnetic and made me physically unable to stop reading but that wasn't even the best part, it was the characters.
The character interactions are all extremely well done, the characters are all very unique and you can feel the emotions and motivations behind every action that is taken. The more light-hearted moments between the battles are consistently my favourites as a result since we get to see the characters interact so naturally, which does lead to some humour here and there. My favourite character is Archius btw.
It might be worth mentioning too that I didn't see any major hiccups in the grammar or anything. Sometimes web novels can be weaker in that regard but not in this case.
The mix of sci-fi and world building would lead you to believe the story might be lacking in other aspects but it is surprisingly well-rounded. Keep up the good work author! *Wink* - TarStickyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is basically a gripping space opera that masterfully blends action, intrigue, and the haunting aftermath of war.The protagonist, an aristocratic mercenary with sharp wits and unmatched skills, navigates a galaxy riddled with corruption and betrayal. The worldbuilding is immersive, from the wreckage of Ptolemy-1 Station to the bustling, treacherous capital. The grammar is nearly flawless, and the pacing strikes a perfect balance between intense action and thoughtful strategy. With its compelling characters and richly layered plot, this story is a must-read for fans of fast-paced, character-driven science fiction adventures.
- Patryk RysRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Your novel has a lot of cool stuff going on. The world-building is deep, and it feels like there’s a massive, complex universe behind everything—corrupt politics, mercenaries, and all the shady business in between. That part is strong and really adds to the feeling that these characters are playing in a much bigger game.
World-Building: The setting is rich and full of detail. It’s clear you’ve thought a lot about how things work in this universe, and that shows. There are a lot of moving parts—different factions, corrupt politics, complex contracts—and it’s all really interesting. It makes the world feel alive and layered.
Character Dynamics: The characters have a lot of personality, especially two main characters: Kazuki and Archius. Kazuki got this cold, detached vibe but also a deeper side, especially in his interactions with Eliza. Their relationship is intriguing—there’s history, guilt, and unresolved tension, which keeps things engaging. Archius adds some humor and chaos, which helps balance the darker tone.
Action Sequences: You handle action really well. The fight scenes are tense, fast-paced, and brutal, especially when Archius goes after that attacker in the factory. It’s easy to visualize, and it makes the stakes feel real. Kazuki’s rescue was especially intense and felt like a proper climax to that sequence.
Cons:
1.) Only one OBJECTIVE (at least I think its objective) problem I could find Is that the first/second chapter can be a bit confusing, there is A LOT of going on, and its really hard to keep track of all of it. BUT BUT BUT, with each next chapter, writting seems cleaner, and reader is basicially no longer confused about anything. Idk what happened in first two chapters that make them that confusing, but something clicked for the author in third one and from there its smooth sailing.
SUBJECTIVE:
2.) You really don’t need the "Compendium" before starting the story. I was concerned that it might be necessary for understanding whats going on, which - ProviderRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Solid cyberpunk story with lots of depth and exposition and some unique elements thrown in.
The start is a bit overwhelming as the reader is dropped into the middle of the action and there is a lot going on at once that all needs expostion. It gets better later on when the reader has built more familiarity with the setting and its characters and factions, many of which are at each other's throats.
The characters carry a chip on their shoulders, which makes them believable and layered. Each has a distinct voice and relatable traits. I particularly like the AI Archius, which often injects some humor into scenes.
The writing is good and makes for an easy read, although there is the occasional heavy use of cyberpunk and tech lexicon. Nothing to throw off cyberpunk and sci-fi lovers, but it's worth noting.
The only downside I can think of is that occasionally the exposition is too explicit, and at other times there is not enough exposition to quickly grasp what is going on. The pacing is sometimes a bit off as well, with action-packed scenes going too fast, and dialogue dragging on slightly too long on the other end.
Still an excellent read! - SuperscribeFromTheQuasiFutureRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is full of potential, combining a vibrant intergalactic backdrop with deeply personal stakes. Eliza's exhaustion and determination make her a relatable and engaging protagonist. Her internal conflicts—juggling academic pressures, emotional struggles, and loyalty to Kazuki—feel authentic, while her interactions with Synthia, her AI, bring a unique blend of warmth and humor. The lively banter among Eliza, Archius, and Kazuki provides nostalgic moments of levity that balance the heavier themes of betrayal and moral ambiguity. I'd love to know more about them. The world-building stands out, skillfully integrating elements of futuristic technology and intergalactic politics into the narrative without overwhelming the reader. The differences between contractors and mercenaries, along with the hinted societal dynamics, suggest a thoughtfully constructed universe. However the pacing was a bit chaotic. I found myself struggling to remember who is who, not to mention there's so much world building going on that it felt overwhelming at times. But it's understandable considering the high stakes events happening right from the start.Still, everyday stresses of Kazuki is a gem in progress. It sparkles with rich character dynamics, clever dialogue, and a vividly imagined setting. It has all the elements to keep you engaged, offering a narrative that is both thrilling and thought-provoking.
- ItsAlizehRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Okay, I had a blast with this book! I had only planned on reading the first two or three chapters but I had so much fun reading this that I ended up going through 7 chapters in 2 days. I will definitely be reading more of this but I need to share my thoughts so far.
Style: The style is perfect for this kind of story. It is descriptive without being overbearing, it has powerful descriptions and reveals the thoughts of the characters without turning into a chore and overall, maintains a breathlessly engaging pace.
Story: The story is a heavy sci-fi setting with a ton of worldbuilding and required reading. Although I read the compendium at the beginning, I frequently found myself getting lost about the world, the characters, and their shared histories. The author has obviously put a staggering amount of effort into crafting this world but that has also made it extremely dense and inaccessible to anyone not familiar with all the intricacies of the setting. The story itself is a fun, campy, sci-fi romp with a sort of self-aware B-movie edge that makes it a blast to read. It didn't matter that I had no idea what was happening or who any of these people were because the moment to moment experience is just so expertly crafted that it manages to create a breathless sense of engagement without skimping out on thoughtful character moments.
Grammar: The grammar is fine for the most part. Generally, there are no obvious typos or errors but occasionally, there is a random shift in tense in the middle of a paragraph that would take me out of the experience. Nothing major, just something worth noting.
Character: My thoughts on the characters are identical to my thoughts on the story. All of them have such a rich history that I was kinda annoyed by how little of it I was shown directly. It felt like the most important developments had already happened off-screen and I was merely witnessing the aftermath of the real fun event. But none of that was enough to detract from how much I en - AlexanderScottRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0What a fantastic science fiction story with great action, drama, and a sense of the broader world simmering all around these characters. As a reader, even though it's not spelled out totally (and it shouldn't be), you do get the feeling that there's a lot of context and history, around these characters—that's good world building right there! The opening scene with Kazuki taking over Clandestine is stunning—a tour de force way to start—and it really sets the scene, this has the feel of a grand space opera whose major scenes don't just have world-wide implications, but galaxy or universe-wide implications! At the same time, there are very personal interactions and character histories here that make the story feel accessible.Though I'm only a few chapters into the story, I'm excited to see where this cast of characters goes together. Will they continue to take on the worst of the galaxy, seeking justice everywhere they go?The writing throughout is strong and engaging, and does feel theatrical in the best way. The action scenes are visceral and drive the scenes forward with momentum. I also love your cover design for this story—though I will say, I think there might be a different TITLE that could better draw readers to this story. This is subjective of course, so take that idea with a grain of salt.
- Lord Turtle the firstRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far the story seems engaging with a rich world building. A lot of thought went in to it .We have characters with solid backgrounds and different personalities that complement eatch other pretty well giving a nice dynamic. The action starts from the get-go with a badass mc . And it just barrely pause from time to time.
- EdenCRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Everyday Stresses of KazukiThis military sci-fi epic is a strong showcase of brutal realism, complex characters, and immersive tactical writing. The story opens with excellent tension and maintains a grounded tone even amidst plasma bolts and corporate espionage. It presents a richly layered world of shadow wars, corrupt systems, and elite mercenaries, anchored not just by bullets but by the psychological toll on its protagonists.Kazuki, the stoic and war-worn lead, is a standout character. His deadpan demeanor and moral ambiguity make him magnetic. The emotional core, however, rests with Eliza. Her gradual integration into the mercenary ecosystem is heartfelt, at times painful, and ultimately empowering. Her struggles with identity, trauma, and legitimacy are handled with nuance. The simulator battle against Lilly is a fantastic metaphor for survival and self-worth.The supporting cast is distinctive and well-voiced. Archius' duality, Quinn’s idiocy, Claire’s blunt compassion, and Lilly’s antagonistic discipline all bring depth to their scenes. Dialogue feels authentic and punchy, especially when tensions crack between military grit and personal vulnerability. The prose balances tactical jargon with character introspection. While the worldbuilding is sharp and military-laced terms enrich the realism, the exposition occasionally slows the pacing. This is most noticeable when explaining equipment, ranks, or tech acronyms. Even so, the style remains effective with strong narrative flow that supports both emotional depth and logistical complexity.Grammar is mostly clean, with only a few redundancies or structural quirks. Dialogue formatting and comma usage are consistent. A few long sentences could be trimmed or reordered for better clarity. The plot escalates tension while allowing the characters room to grow. There is a clear sense of mounting stakes, yet interpersonal moments remain well-paced. Everyone in this story feels like they’ve survived something, and that weig
- TonyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I’ve always been a sci-fi fan and love political intrigue in sci-fi universes, and this story hints at delivering there from where I’m up too. The three main characters are fleshed out and interesting with strong interpersonal dynamics and history. The future tech looks to be promising. The action is just starting up where I am, and I enjoyed it. It could use a little more consistency and cleaning up on the grammar, but it hasn’t taken much away from my enjoyment.
