Description

The first book; chapters 1-40 have been taken down for stubbing. Book one can be foundHEREon Amazon for purchase or reading on KU.

Synopsis:

Plagued by indecision and guilt, Arthur has fallen into the chasms of despair and depression, trying to come to terms with the consequences of his actions.

His friends tell him that it wasn't his fault, his therapist that he should leave the past behind him and his colleagues that he can change nothing. But Arthur knows better. After all, no one knows what he's done. No one knows the life he's lived.

But just six months after the loss that would change his life forever, Arthur is given a second chance. Redemption. The world has changed; evolved, and with it has come the intangible and esoteric energy of Ether, as well as the system that governs it.

With new rules to live by and a path to redemption before him, Arthur now has a way to right his wrongs. At least he thinks so. After all, nothing is quite impossible when you can rewrite reality itself.

He'll do anything he can to redeem himself.

Release schedule: Two chapters a week. Days differ

Note: The primary issue I've seen that some may have with my story, is the main characters apparent disregard for his magical aptitude in the earlier chapters. This is a temporary issue and the MC will make ether his primary focus.

Also, for those wondering, the litRPG mechanics make their true appearance for the MC at chapter 10, for those who are too impatient to wait and see.

Another disclaimer, there will beNO LOSS OF AGENCYfor the main character in thee story despite what certain side characters may lead you to believe. This is a personal pet peeve of mine and I know most royal road readers hate it so I'm just putting it out there.

This is a remake of a story that was on rising stars a while back. Its return is not disappointing.
The novel feels a little less clunky already, and I'm interested in how much it will improve. I already considered it five stars before, and based off what the author has mentioned, I think there will be substantial improvements in the areas that weren't as good.
So from someone who's read a fair bit ahead, I would suggest you try this out, it's pretty good I think.

I've spent a lot of time reading on this site and so have become accustomed to the general flavour of fiction that's found here as well as the common writing styles. That being said, I believe I can recognise potential when I see it.
    Things I don't like in a story:
    Bad writing
    Bad grammer
    Info dumps
    A character I can't relate to
Thankfully, this story doesn't suffer from any of that and the mc is actually pretty likable.
    Story: 4.5
The story isn't groundbreaking, but hardly anything is nowadays. What it is, however, is an entertaining read that keeps me engaged throughout. It's ambitious without being overwhelming and doesn't come across as childish and naive.
    Grammer: 5
The grammer is perfect. I've not come across any errors so far and the author constantly fixes any mistakes that are pointed out to him.
    Style: 5
Honestly, this is probably my favourite part of the story. The author uses a varied sentence structure to keep the prose flowing and its plenty descriptive without being flowery.
    Charcter: 4.5
Arthur Ward is a troubled young man that's trying to come to terms with his past in crime. Thank god he isn't some edgy teenager. I honestly feared that might be the case when I read the synopsis, but thankfully, he isn't. He isn't perfect and infallible that's what makes him a human mc. Too many times do I read Litrpg's where the main character can hardly be described as human within the span of 5 chapters.
All in all, this is a great story that I'm sure will be on rising  stars soon. Apparently it was on here before, which I didnt get around to reading, but this is definitely worth a try.

For a story this one had my attention since the first time it was launched on RR. And i am a guy who goes for the longer reads(novels with more chapters). It starts off good, the 1st chapter for a short prologue into introducing the MC and it drops you right into the action.
    STYLE
The author has clear bounds between different PoVs.Meaning there are clear demarcations between different POVs and timeskips making it easier for the reader to follw the story. There are some authors who even find this hard to do which makes it quite irritating. The system is little generic. I'm only talking about the Status panel, because the larger mystery behind it is yet to be explained. The stroy progression is quite fast actually. in just sixteen chapter the author finished an arc(the tutorial) and it was not rushed everything was explained for what happened with the mc perspective.
    STORY
The is start is good. No better way to explain it. It grabs your attention immediatly because of the protagonists backstory(which is unique rather than the regular cliche). The story is currently too short for any type info on the larger world building but i believe the author to make a good work of it too. There are reasons behind almost every power the mc receives not like the author's just introducing the power and not giving any info on it.
    CHARACTER
The characters have a depth. They are not 2D characters. They are what their life experiences make them and not just single use mobs the author introduced for the progression of the stroy.
    GRAMMAR
There are no glaring grammatical errors. Grammer is something you can always improve upon for me so i give it a four.

So far this has been a really good read. I came on this after it had stubbed and going over to amazon to grab the first books is totally worth it. Very fast paced well done apocalypse system litrpg. I’m on book 4 at the time of this review.

So, I read the first 3 books on Kindle on my off.days this week. And since I woke up an hour early for my shift today I started on RR's book four. Love the characters, the story line, the action, the MC's humanity even as he becomes OP... Just a great story. Just have to ignore the misspelled words on RR...lol.

Fair warning, I spoil some of the parts more than some other reviews, though I hide the most important bits.
As far as Ideas go, this one's pretty good.
    TL;DR:
Has pretty great style, Grammar needs work, I'm loving the Story, and the side characters need work (the MC and supporting characters are pretty good though). ~9.3/10
    Brief Summary of the Fiction:
The MC is a fairly normal dude that's been through a lot, and like any relatively normal person would be, he breaks down sometimes. In the beginning, it's your standard story of a malfunctioning system,
Though we do later learn that it's related to his powers, and not just some malfunction that gives him powers.
and he benefits from it being broken by way of certain titles. However, we're learning that even though he becomes the strongest person in his area, he isn't the strongest overall, meaning he still has to struggle.
    Character:
Arthur himself is pretty well fleshed out, Including the way his backstory comes up often, explaining why he doesn't do certain things, and absolutely has to do some others.
Though in one of the earlier chapters he refuses to use guns, yet later he picks up a tranquilizer gun and uses it to massacre an entire zoo. I know that it isn't the same, but when PTSD is that strong, you don't pick up something that even remotely looks like a gun, let alone use the thing to put all of the animals in a zoo to sleep.
The side characters could do with some working on, but nothing too major; it just feels a bit flimsy the way certain others act, though the main supporting cast (oxymoron, I know) is pretty well thought out.
    Grammar:
The grammar is pretty good but there are some weird bits. For example: considering that my best guess on where it's set (from vague context clues, as well as some people saying where they're from) is L.A., and yet the characters say things like 'bloody' and 'mate' (plus, nobody in the states says 'university' or 'uni' when referring to higher education, we all say college,

I'll admit, I have read most of this series when it was release on KU.  Still, this has been one of my favorite series, pretty much ever.  I am really hoping there will be more.   The MC is rather broken, and that really speaks to me.  He does become an absolute badass, but he does it as he recovers from past trauma.  Do yourself a favor and give this series a read.  If you have a hard time reading on a tablet or computer screen, pick them up on KU.  However you choose to do it, give this series a chance.
To the author.  Keep up the good work.

If you like op mc then this is for you, but there is more then that to the story.
I really enjoyed the diversity of characters in the story and the unique take on a leveling system, a little less enjoyment because of the mc personality not the best but it is improving and I can only hope for a training arc to fix some of the issues.
(like being unable to really control his aura and general combat proficiency which is sorely lacking)
