- EricLRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The protagonist is high ranking cultivator when she dies and is reverse isekai'd to what seem to be some form of modern China. Now she is a teenage girl who appears to have sworn eternal revenge on her family for their mistreatment of her.
And the drama that goes with her being a yuri mc.
I rather enjoy the tale so far, pity the releases seem to have slowed down.
I mean, this is by no means everyone's cup of tea, but for fans of the genre it's pretty fun! - OrchaRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Pretty standard for a female centric culvitation novel, but could use more focus on cultivation for someone in a somewhat disadvantageous position. But instead the last dozen have been on school and her discovering she has got hormones. I'll be keeping an open eye on it but lost some of my interest.
- luda305Royal Road★★ 1.5r.... and the writing is bad too.
So the story begins with the 300+ year old protagonist killing this one asshole, and then detonating her cultivation to try and hurt the asshole's father. Her next reincarnation ends up with her as a high school teen in a "modern" world with low spiritual energy which seems like an Earth facsimile. There is some spiritual energy though, so she decides to cultivate and take revenge against all the people who had previously wronged her in this new life before she regained her memories.
It is quite a dismal story. We get a lot of exposition about both her prior life and her current life, and frankly she's just surrounded by family, friends, and other people who all treat her just the worst. And a lot of it is the kind of doublethink common with abusers. "Ah, your cultivation constitution is trash, shame on you. *slap*" followed much later by, "So you've figured out how to cultivate like a genius? Shame on you for making my prior opinion wrong. *slap*" Etc., etc. Honestly, it is super fucked up.
Ok, some people like tragedy or grimdark. Fine, that's not a reason for me to ding the story, so I won't.
The writing is just really terrible. There's just so many things wrong with it, but I'll focus on a few.
First, there are multiple walls of exposition. Now, there are some important nuggets in there, but that almost makes it worse. On top of that, the exposition especially suffers a lot from the next problem which I'll describe below, which means that it's really bad exposition because it's confusing to the reader.
Second, there are so many things that just don't make any damn sense. Honestly, the list is too long to even pick out a few. But several times per chapter (sometimes per paragraph!), I'm just knocked out of the story entirely because I read something ludicrous. Now, admittedly, some of it gets explained later as one character trying to deceive another, but that's one of the worst ways to present deception to an audience.
