Description
Macarthy. Black Hand of the Thieves Guild. Infamous and hated.
Last night of the tournament, relaxing for a bit. Having some drinks to calm my nerves. Disguise ready to go, almost about time to start heading over. Sneak in while they're still fighting and get my hands on the grand prize. And, sure, the money's a factor, but money comes and money goes. Money ain't everything. The real reason for this? Revenge. Payback for them shutting down the guild, breaking us all up and carelessly wiping away all our years of sweat and blood. Looks like a good plan. Solid enough, at least.
It shouldn't need to be said, but looks can be very deceiving. Even the best laid plans never really account for all of life's little twists. And afterwards? Kicked out, access revoked, but saved by a choice bit of foresight and managing to slink my way back in.
And this, this absolutely doesn't need to be said, but they really didn't seem to like that. Not at all. So new face, new class, getting to start all over. At least a foot shorter and missing some important bits. No longer invisible, can't really do it, instead hiding in plain sight. Hopefully only a temporary situation, but the way things have been going? Not likely.

- LilyVictoriaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0One of the good things about erased is the funny dialogue and some not funny character interactions that also hit pretty hard in other ways. I recommend reading this story. If you are reading the first couple chapters are you're like "what are you talking about" they feel a bit different so that's just how it is.
- UnderenthusiasticRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The initial chapters felt like they were setting up for an edgelord murderhobo main character. However, Macarthy's actions are eventually revealed to be a blend of chaotic neutral rebellion, internet troll with a heart of gold, and jaded cynic trying to take the edge off his boredom. Read until chapter 10 before dropping it.
Stylistically, and with regards to grammar, it's good. The prose assists the action rather than getting in the way, there are no obvious errors like switching tense midway through a sentence, and the fight scenes are tight. I found the inclusion of sex scenes a little baffling, but they're easy enough to skim through.
Macarthy himself is well-characterised, but the others are a little one-dimensional. I'm only up to chapter 27, so this may change through the rest of the story, but by now I would have expected the two henchwomen to be more fully fleshed out. In general, other characters don't act with much agency. This is only a minor quibble, and the characters are good enough to support the story.
After a bit of a rough start, the story itself is riveting and hard to put down. There are a lot of metaphorical rifles hanging on a lot of walls, and I look forward to seeing them go off. I don't know if I would have enjoyed it as much with spoilers, so I'll avoid giving any. Again, chapter 10 was make or break for me, and I recommend reading past it if you're on the fence. - KrakeRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0You need to give this one a few chapters before judging it. There's a pretty big recontextualization around chapter 9, which is also when the gramma issues start to clear up. The author has used a rather enjoyable twist on the formula, though it does at times feel like some of the chapters are just filler to keep the litRPG status. The quality of the writing ha been going up every chapter, so I have high hopes for what it will be like when I catch up to current releases.
- HyenasRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Every story has issues. This one is driving me nuts with having to stop and backtrack to figure out who is talking. It's called Dialogue in the Void. Every time I have to do this, I am exiting the story to do the analysis. It happens enough times a chapter that I want to scream. It also descends into the infinite level up without character development hole I see in many LitRPG stories on Royal Road.
Yes, the story has good points.
* It has an ending.
* It has spice. Really, keep reading. Some of it relatively explicit.
* The premise could be fun.
That's why I rate it 3 1/2. One point off for dialogue in the void and half a point for formula without enough fun.
