Who walked a thousand miles to be at Meghan’s side! Love these books! Dynamic writing, good characters in real peril to keep things exciting. Keep ‘em coming!
Vince is great, and the camaraderie from his team is natural in its evolution. They start a ragtag group of engineers, and end being total apocalypse thrives!

Here goes my first review... I'll preface it to say I finally made an account just to review this story.
I've been following the original Apocalypse Parenting for some time now (if somehow you are reading here and haven't read it yet, do yourself a favor and check if out ASAP).
I'll this to say, I've been waiting for this characters perspective and tale for quite some time, and I have to say, it is delivering so far!
For me a lot of the appeal of Apocalypse stories come from the initial breakdown and survival aspects, which inevitably whittle away as our heros adapt to the new world and bigger issues come knocking. So this story, which I hope continues course as an oddesey is a breath of fresh air into the fascinating system the author has set up.
If you are a fan of post Apocalypse with light stats and real stakes and people this is the tale for you! I heavily encourage anyone to pick this up, as it is a much more grounded take on the genre and I've found it very refreshing.

I love the author's other work--Apocalypse Parenting--from which this story is derived. It is one of my favorite light reads these days. So far, I'm not liking this story nearly as much, although this story is still decent. My five star rating is for readers like me who love Apocalypse Parenting for whom this is worth reading as part of that story. I probably would not recommend this to anyone who isn't already caught up with Apocalypse Parenting though, or at least I would probably rate it only four stars for such readers. The story here is fun and engaging in the same way as Apocalypse Parenting, but with less novelty because the world is familiar. The main problem is that the characters all seem to blur together without being given sufficiently distinct personalities and characterizations. This is a common problem in light novels and LitRPGs, but Apocalypse Parenting avoids this problem mostly because the children are so distinct and engaging and so much of the story in Apocalypse Parenting revolves around relationships with the children and the role of adults as parents. Without that distinct element, the story here seems more generic and bland, at least so far. I'm hoping it will get better as it goes.

Apocalypse parenting is my favourite series on Royalroad, and this midquel was excellent. It was great seeing this world through soneone elses eyes, I loved all of the alternate names for monsters, seeing the different abilities focused on was great, and the final chapter actually brought tears to my eyes. I can't wait to read book four.

I've been doing audible for the last year as reading time has just disappeared between work, the kids and the farm. I picked up Apocalypse Parenting as my first introduction into litrpg and was enthralled. Book 2 followed quickly and TBH I am kinda upset with myself for picking up a series that isn't complete... I avoid this with TV shows for a reason... I'm not a patient person! They were both so wonderful that I immediately needed more. Some googling around introduced me to this site and more importantly this companion book, which utterly consumed me for an entire day.
To the book. I love the premise! I love the dynamic between Vince and Meghan that exists between the books and how even though they aren't physically together you get a good sense of how they work together as a couple and can see the pitfalls they fall into that they wouldn't have had they not been physically separated. I can't wait for more from Erin. Obviously a very talented writer. (I am at chapter 36 but just created an account to write this review)

Read apocalypse parenting 1-3 first, but it’s a great addition to the series and a fabulous example of great LitRPG!
the style is a bit difference - Vince’s personality doesn’t feel quite as coherent as Meghan’s, but the author has done a great job at writing a male MC that is t afraid of his feelings and isn’t on an insane power trip. His behaviors are rational and consistent, and the interplay between characters is great to read. Feels very real.

Great read! you really get invested in the characters and their wellbeing. But I find Royal road annoying because accuse it interrupted my writing of this review the first time with an ad and I had to start all over again. But the book Is the best no stats yet or magic but a fun read.

Since I signed up to the author’s email list and read the short story about the dad. I have been waiting for and wanting more.
I love the authors world building and engaging characters. The characters are not just instant bad asses they have their trials and tribulations and struggle to adapt quickly to this death game.
can not wait to read more.

Part of one of the better litRPG series on RR. While this particular book leaves out the motivations for the creation and implementation of the system (up to chapter 62), when considering within the framework created by the first books, it's a very satisfying self contained arc. This book in particular does a good job fleshing out the personalities and motivations of the primary characters, requiring the main character to interact and compromise in a way that many litRPG series fail to do. Because the system was created with some motivation, characters are driven to make decisions and suffer consequences rather than just mindlessly power up. Plot-wise this is a fairly standard "journey home" in which the main character and his compatriots have to overcome their differences to reach their goal. While the characters experience missteps and challenges, the overall story benefits from a consistent plot. There's no unnecessary author-indulgence into genres or tropes that are done to inflate the story. The main character of this story has a unique and well defined personality/voice from the main character of the Apocalypse Parenting series. The style is consistent and doesn't overly suffer from first person PoV as the reader doesn't have direct access to the main character's thoughts. Grammar is consistently good throughout. Overall it's an enjoyable read that doesn't lose focus or drag out unnecessarily.

This was such a great addition to the Apocalypse Parenting universe. I hope the author gets contacted by a video game company so I can play with synergies and combat builds. I'm definitely looking forward the the 4th audiobook. I want to see some aliens get their butt kicked.
