Elf Empire [An Isekai kingdom building story]
Community Rating
Description
Leo, an engineer, was Isekai'd across to another dimension. The one summoning him meant for it to be like every other isekai--get a body and some cool powers and right an ancient wrong. But the ritual is messed up, and Leo goes over with a loan shark and his minions--who start building an evil Isekai empire.
Meanwhile, Leo gets stuck in a forest, where he befriends a defective dragon and rescues a stuck-up elf princess that got her whole team killed.
Now, he needs to work to get himself and his team up to snuff, to be able to move back to the path that was supposed to be set for him, by one method or another.
And then he needs to put all his skills as a gamer and engineer to work to build his... fantasy empire
[Litrpg, significant and meaningful rules and options for both character and settlement growth, base-building/empire-building, portal fantasy, adventure, intelligent MC, no sex, no harem, some slice-of-life and found family.]

- B.Z. HardingRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall:
First off, I think this is one of the best stories on RR, period. It's extremely polished.
I thought it was great so far. I'll definitely continue reading it later. There's so much depth to the system and the world and I really enjoyed all the humor infused into the scenes. I like that it doesn't take itself too seriously, and the author seems pretty down-to-earth as well.
Style:
The author's style is excellent. He's clearly a professional or at least highly developed in the craft. I could easily see this work getting pulled straight off RR and published, even easier than countless popular stories I have seen in the past get much acclaim moving to Kindle or with many Patreon subs/a combination. Prose flows very well.
Story:
The story was still good so far, but it's a little slow. I think it might be good to introduce the hook faster, or show us something that the main character can do with his power in order to build intrigue or showcase future possibilities.
Grammar:
No complaints. Again, the author is clearly very strong mechanically. I have pretty high standards for this if I'm going to read something seriously or long-term because poor grammar or style will pull me directly out of a story, and this one hit all them marks. It's enjoyable to read.
Character:
I feel like the story really shines here. The characters have been great so far, and I love the humor. IMO: don't listen to the couple people that said the dragon was cringe or it felt anachronistic, because it's honestly very charming, but maybe add the humor tag to the story.
Thank you for your work on this! - BestcoasterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story manages to strike a good balance between getting on with the plot, developing characters, and world-building. Dialogue is smoothly natural, it doesn't feel like anyone is holding the idiot stick, and characters feel like they have a unique voice. It remains to be seen whether the story can maintain these qualities and stick the landing when the plot comes to a head, but for now I rate it quite highly.
My only real complaint is that the size of the character sheets is rapidly heading towards blue-box overload. - CausaMortisRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Empire building done good awwww yeaahh. Main character feels real. Isn't overly OP (yet) and the side characters are fun! Recommended if you like a main character that needs to learn and actually relies on the knowledge and expertise of his peers. No single handedly carrying it all, but actually deligation of responsibility is hot okay.
- KlondiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Took several chapters for me to really get into the flow of the story, but once things got set up, we get the best of DnD party adventures, and satisfying kingdom building progression fantasy.
Author seems to share the MC`s propensity for slow starts in exchange for big long term payoffs.
For style, which feel is quite subjective, it does lack extensive literary depth in the vein of the more epic fantasy series. It leans more towards light adventure. This story is so much fun, and thats why I read.
For the story, its obviously well planned and overall well executed. I could critique certain things as I go along, but Im honestly not sure those wont be addressed later, and I'd rather keep reading.
There are some minor grammar glitches that could do with a bit more proofreading, but I would probably prefer the author to keep writing more chapters.
Characters...I love these people, I will love them FOREVER. Lol
Is this really not 200 words long?
Ok im just gonna keep talking till the website lets me post this...
Im pretty sure ive read reviews shorter, but it probably seems like it cuz I read fast...
This is ridiculous. - MrBeeTooRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A seriously enjoyable story.
The pacing is impeccable. A lot of stories like this will get bogged down in all the nitty gritty and never truly progress. The appropriate time skips are spot on. Obviously good enough for me to choose as my review note.
Character growth is demonstrable. The leveling elements are well done and consistent. Fun story and does a good job incorporating the 4x elements and the dungeon crawling and personal leveling adventures. - RMMulderRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Okay, simply put - this story seriously rocks. Maybe that's too vague of a response... I'm honestly enjoying every minute of it, and I can relate directly with the main character Leo. The story starts off as a middle-aged man who is a workaholic and is on the brink of success - only to have that success ripped out from under him when a mob boss kills him - or at least, almost does. Leo's soul gets sucked through a portal at the last minute and throws his consciousness into the body of an elf on a faraway world. Leo has to learn the ins and outs of this new world, and he's a total noob. This is a clear progression story as Leo attempts and fails twice to shoot a fox with an arrow, but later almost decapitates a deer (fortunately the deer didn’t live long). I thought the sentient beastly wolf who spared his life and even cuddled up to him during the night was a nice touch. Even the sentient dragon was hilarious and I found myself vying for them to become friends. It was good to see a story where every living creature isn’t necessarily an opponent.
This story has made me laugh several times, and although I haven't finished reading it yet, I thought it was important to stop for a moment and share with everyone how truly great this story is. - RandMantearRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have read the author other stories on KU and enjoyed them. This world has the same formula and magic system but is told as city builder/ strategy litrpg game then a dungeon focused one. Great characters who have comfortable personality without being forgettable background characters in the their own story. If the tags and synopsis interest you go for it, it's worth it.
- Ryantang203Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is an exciting portal fantasy with a unique twist--the main character has an engineering background (civil engineering in particular) and he intends to change his new world with his knowledge.
However, the greatest highlight of the story is the author's magic system. It's clearly in-depth, and every statistic, attribute, and magic type clearly has a well-thought out place. - Shadow UserRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've been looking for a good world building, strong lead, fantasy fiction, until I found this one in recommendations.
The story follows good characters with some quirks trying to rebuild the elf kingdom, it would be enjoyable to get to know them (and frustrating at times).
It contains a good amount of lore, that you'd think the author could've written a book solely about that, a plus in my opinion. Following that there's a great amount of world building included, this world is huge, really huge, and that's not putting in mind the wider universe.
I enjoy the story, and I suggest giving it a shot. - scarecrow.authorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I started by reading the description and thought there would be some nice comedy in it. Checked the tags and saw that "comedy" is not one of them. Maybe I was wrong.
Then, upon reading the first few sentences, I realized I was right.
Of course, comedy is not the main genre, but there were several parts that tickled my funny bone.
The story starts great, with Leo, your workaholic next door working in the dead of the night towards something big. That's when we learn his story and, honestly, it's interesting enough by itself that I would read a book about it.
But he gets Isekai'd. And he does so in one of the most unique ways I've seen resulting in an interesting scene showing both realms
After that, we slowly learn about the new world and Leo's new abilities and lack thereof.
We also get a glimpse of what seems like a really detailed and amazingly well thought out magic system and the author seems to have paid attention to the last detail and health point.
Style: very good, much better than average, made it easy and pleasant to keep reading. Very good descriptions to the point I was thinking I would love to be able to describe things that good.
Story: not much shown yet, but after putting so much effort for the MC's backstory, I'm expecting great things.
Grammar: did not find any issues whatsoever
Character: the MC is quite amusing and every other character introduced has their own unique personality. Please keep the intellectual mob in the book!
A great story I would definitely recommend. Now, excuse me, I have to go read the rest of the chapters
