Echoes of the end. Starts with a question, and said question grips the reader immediately. You are wondering why it’s there, what does this mean, and how will it impact the world. It’s one of those things where you know that when things hit the fan, it’s gonna be bad, and you are just looking over your shoulder waiting for it to happen. I don’t want to spoil it, but you will understand what I mean as soon as you read the first chapter.
The author crafts this beautifully eerie atmosphere with deliciously brilliant descriptions. I swear every time a character drank a cup of tea, I felt like going to grab one myself. It was so immersive, and I really enjoyed reading it. This description is further enhanced by the word choice of the author. Each word feels chosen to have a specific impact on the reader, and it works well throughout the writing.
This all comes together to make detailed and grounded descriptions that are a joy to read.
Now onto my only issue, and it’s a small one. It’s the pacing. In parts, it felt perfect. But in others I wished there was a bit more exploration of the character’s reaction to build to the next clue being reviled. It just felt like there was not enough to sink my teeth into. It’s a minor gripe, but it makes it feel a little faster in places.
Overall, it’s an engaging read that keeps you interested in the answer to the laid out questions. And I can’t wait to see how the apocalypse unfolds.
Grammer: I found absolutely no problem with the grammar. So, I have nothing to say on that front, as it was perfectly fine.
Story: Loved it. Deeply engaging with hooks left right and centre, always making you wonder what’s going to happen next. Especially when people start… taking permanent naps.
Style: The style is juicy and filled with a sweet pull that is a joy to read. It’s some of the best descriptions I have read in a while, and I loved reading it. I cannot recommend enough just based on that.
Character: Eleanor and Lena, the two primary stars of th

Eleanor Thorncroft’s journey into the secrets of Blackthorn is a captivating blend of atmospheric storytelling, rich characterization, and suspense.
The story expertly builds tension with Eleanor’s discovery of her late mother’s cryptic journal and the eerie Obelisk that seems to hold the key to an ancient mystery. The atmospheric setting, enhanced by the fog-shrouded town, draws readers into a world of supernatural intrigue. The inclusion of the shadowy historian Silas adds depth and mystery, while the ominous phrase, "When the shadow consumes the light, the gate shall open," lingers as a chilling promise.
Eleanor and her sister Lena are relatable anchors in the story, and their bond contrasts beautifully with the growing sense of danger. The pacing is well-balanced, with enough revelations to keep readers engaged while leaving room for suspense. The cryptic lore, such as the Codex Umbra, immerses the reader in a rich world that feels both ancient and foreboding.
A minor critique is that the stakes could be more clearly defined earlier, as the threat to Blackthorn and Eleanor’s personal involvement is somewhat vague at times. A clearer connection between the Obelisk and the town's fate would enhance the urgency of the story.
Overall, this gothic mystery weaves together supernatural horror and a sense of impending doom, leaving readers eager for more.

    Style
This is a cosmic horror.  It's well executed and balances the horror element with mystery.  If you enjoy Lovecraftian horror, this is the story for you.  The reason I gave four and a half stars on this one is because I felt like the horror elements were too immediate.  In my personal opinion (which may not match all tastes), a slower introduction to the dangers would have been better.  Still very good though -- my rating in that category is above four.
    Story
So far the mystery element is driving the plot.  I'm as curious as Eleanor about what is happening with the obelisk, the mark, and her parent's fate.  I also am painfully aware that seeking answers is not a good idea for her.  As a reader I'm very sympathetic about her pursuing the dangerous knowledge, so it's more infinitely more understandable than someone making bad decisions in a slasher movie.
    Grammar
I don't think I spotted a single mistake, so grammar is a strength of this story.
    Character
Eleanor and Lena are the only characters with any significant time on screen.  Our protagonist Eleanor is intelligent and driven.  She's aware of the danger she's placing herself in but she can't back down.
    Overall
It's a dark, mysterious, and atmospheric story.  Fans of horror will like this.

Disclaimer: This review is based on the opening chapter and may not reflect the story as a whole.
“Echoes of the End” is described as a mystery story with grimdark and fantasy elements, and a female lead.
The chapter opens with a haunting introduction to the town of Blackthorn, a place shrouded in fog and superstition. The chapter sets the tone for a dark, atmospheric tale steeped in mystery and foreboding. The author’s vivid descriptions bring the eerie setting to life, from the jagged cliffs encasing the town to the alien Obelisk at the chapter’s center—a structure both mesmerizing and menacing.
Eleanor Thorncroft, the protagonist, is immediately compelling. Her mix of curiosity and quiet determination draws the reader into her perspective, while her interactions with her sister Lena provide an emotional grounding to the story. The contrast between Eleanor’s fascination with the Obelisk and Lena’s fear creates palpable tension, adding depth to their dynamic.
The writing shines in its ability to evoke unease. The Obelisk is described in unnerving detail, with symbols that seem to shift and a presence that feels almost alive. The Thorncroft estate, too, is steeped in creeping dread, especially as the chapter edges toward its chilling conclusion. The whispers, the shadowy figure, and Eleanor’s discovery of her mother’s book all build a sense of inevitable, looming danger.
While the prose is polished and the pacing is strong, some descriptive passages feel overly detailed, which could slow the momentum of the tension. For example, the description of Blackthorn, while atmospheric, might benefit from some trimming to keep the reader’s focus firmly on the Obelisk and its immediate impact on Eleanor.
Additionally, while the dynamic between Eleanor and Lena is engaging, Lena’s dialogue occasionally feels a bit stiff, lacking the warmth or natural flow that might better reflect their sibling bond. Adding a touch more familiarity to their exchanges could make their relations

Keep up the good work, you have created quite the world of mystery and fantasy, as dark fantasy lover myself I can say it is quite good though it can still be better so keep up the good work.
I would say that you can improve the character depth of side characters and more clearly explain the some of the mystery in future chapter.

Echoes of the End is a masterful blend of mystery, cosmic horror, and psychological tension that grips you from the first page and refuses to let go.
Author LightChaser weaves a haunting narrative where ancient symbols, cryptic whispers, and shadowy entities entwine with chilling elegance. The story’s vivid imagery brings the eerie Obelisk and its shards to life, while the creeping dread of an impending cataclysm permeates every page.
What sets Echoes of the End apart is its ability to balance cosmic terror with intimate, emotional stakes. Eleanor’s evolution—marked by courage, doubt, and an unsettling connection to the eldritch forces at play—is both inspiring and terrifying. Each character, from the steadfast Lena to the desperate villagers, adds layers of humanity to a world unraveling at its seams.
The intricate world-building is nothing short of breathtaking. The Codex Umbra, the enigmatic Obelisk, and the unsettling notion of “The Gate” create a mythology that feels both ancient and disturbingly relevant. The novel doesn’t just tell a story; it pulls readers into an immersive experience where every revelation raises more questions and the line between savior and harbinger blurs.
Fans of Lovecraftian horror and epic tales of moral ambiguity will find Echoes of the End an absolute treasure.
    ⭐ Verdict: 5/5 stars.
Echoes of the End is not merely a novel; it’s an odyssey into the unknown. If you’re ready to confront the shadows lurking within and without, this is the book you’ve been waiting for. Prepare to be consumed.
    Hope for more chapters soons!

Echoes of the End is a Lovecraftian tale following the Thorncroft family as they deal with an eldritch artifact bewitching their home, and marking the denizens within.
This story is told with a haunting sort of tone that underlines the setting's atmosphere while bringing to mind things that remind me of a game of Arkham Horror. Further encapsulated by the way the story is given in small piecemeal scenes rather than the more typical stylings of more traditional novels, giving it a flair that I've rarely seen outside of short stories.
While the story is about the Thorncraft Family and the Obelisk, Eleanor is the primary protagonist with a near obsession with this eldritch artifact as her sanity slowly slips while seeking out answers to questions that may be better left unsaid. This combined with her constant desire to protect her town gives her a greater depth that unfortunately a number of other characters lack.
Perhaps this is because this is still early on in the story's overall plot leaves some of the other characters feeling a little shallow, or maybe its due to the more mysterious tone of this tale. Either way it does leave the characters outside of Eleanor and her Watson like sister as largely forgettable by comparison.
Regardless of this flaw though, Echoes of The End is still a notable Lovecraftian tale that captures the atmosphere of the genre in a way that largely gets put to the side in favor of more action packed takes on eldritch horrors. And as such is something that any true fan of the genre should give a chance.

This is a fantastic dark-fantasy/mystery with a undeniable air of intrigue and tension building up around it. We're immediately introduced to a foreign object, and it's definitely not friendly. Our characters need to work to solving this dilemma before it's too late, and the story does an excellent job of hiding whether they'll get there or not.
Style: the writing is smooth, the dialogue is well implement and the blend of development and exposition is fine. The chapters are a little short for my taste, but where the star comes off is how the scenes feel somewhat chunky. Each section, indicated by a line to separate them, feels very, very short. While the overall story does move with a decent pace, it feels a little slow, and this isn't helped by the fact that it feels like not much is accomplished per scene break. Overall, however, the writing is quite enjoyable to read.
Story: the mystery and darkness shrouding the Obelisk is done quite masterfully. You end up feeling just as lost as the characters do, as you're not given much more information than they are. In a way, you're almost trying to solve the puzzle alongside the sisters as they try to find a way to save the town. The buildup and slow feeding of information are a perfect formula along with the dark tone and tense setting of the small town we're in.
Grammar: No errors I could think of. As stated earlier, the writing is quite well done.
Character: There aren't many characters that have been introduced yet, but the relationship between the deuteragonists is interesting to see. We can also see how their family interact with the rest of the town, creating a sort of "show, not tell" environment that only serves to improve the story. My only complaint would be that the characters don't feel fully fleshed out, but I also think that's because not too much progression in terms of achievements have been made.
Overall, this is quite the mystery! I'm definitely looking forward to see where this goes next.

    Style and Story:
Echoes of the End begins its tale by throwing readers right into the thick of things: There’s a mystery, an ominous object that casts its dark shadow over a town in the middle of nowhere. That said, despite all the hauntingly beautiful descriptions which fill the pages as the deadly puzzle slowly unravelled itself, a foreboding feeling could also be felt, especially when a curious, and perhaps foolhardy, woman tries to dig deeper into secrets that should have been buried forevermore...
    Grammar:
I found little to no grammar error while reading through the novel, so this part gets full marks from me
    Character:
Eleanor and Lena are the main characters of this tale we’re witnessing. Yet, the two sisters’ personalities are as different as night and day
Lena, while timid and apprehensive most of the time, can arguably be said to be the wiser sibling. She’s not eager to dive head-first into something so obviously dangerous, and even less so when her many suggestions to ceases and turn back constantly get shut down. While such traits might paint her as a scaredy cat – and perhaps rightly so – they also provide a glimmer of hope that the poor girl can finally realize how hopeless the situation is and flee before it’s too late... before the darkness claim her as it has already claimed her mother and sister... speaking of which...
Eleanor – the very protagonist of this novel – is a curious woman. She’s headstrong and active, and absolutely won’t back down when she wants her questions answered. Sadly, said thirst for knowledge is slowly, yet surely, becoming her very downfall. With more and more “unnecessary hindrances” – which her own sibling might be a part of soon enough – being discarded in favor of seeking the truth, Eleanor’ descend into darkness is all but set in stone, and us as readers simply can’t look away from such a tragedy
All in all, the author is a huge fan of mystery thriller and it shows. Sentences are written as if the main character’s every

I really like the way the story is built and the basis of it but the background and worldbuilding could really use some work, the story is written academically like a research paper instead of an actual book and a lot of the stuff just doesn't make sense like which parent without even single word would let some teenage girl stab their son.
