Description
Book 1 in the Series, Bottom Rung, is available on Kindle Unlimited. https://amzn.to/3R5VTTp Tibs survived by picking pockets; until he’s caught. Instead of losing a hand, he’s sent away and told he must now survive a dungeon. How is a kid who knew nothing more than his street supposed to survive a dungeon that changes each time he goes in it? Being sent into an ever-growing dungeon becomes his life, facing ever-changing threats to him and the people he tries so hard not to become attached to. He’d like to run away, but where the dungeon means he might die, the guards have made it clear trying to run will ensure he does. But his street taught Tibs to get back up after he’s beaten down. So he isn’t going to just give up. And maybe, just maybe, if he’s tough enough to take a chance on people, and on a deal for power he’s advised against taking, Tibs can not only survive, but beat those who seem to stack the odds against him. - RfaeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's a classic epic fantasy with dungeon crawler spice. I'm loving this the world building is amazing the characters are great and the story is interesting what more could you ask for. I like how the guild feels very authentic and the main character tibs is on point he just is a very well rounded character the author could of easily gone the easy route with anger that many authors fall into but he is written very well. This is going to be a gem of a good book when it's all finished and edited and sparkling because it's already very entertaining and I can't wait to read more and then the next one and the one after that so on and so forth.
- deathguard6Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book popped up on my recommended reads from RR. It was fantastic. It hooked me fairly quickly and I ended up finishing book 1 over the weekend I couldn't put it down.It was an interesting take on a classic dungeon diving adventure. The characters felt realistic in there decision making and there were no rabbits pulled out of the hat last minute to save the MC.Would recommend giving it a shot and what's better is it looks like I have a lot more to go after book 1.Thanks for writing the book and keep up the great work
- Andrev1408Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0It is a really good so far, I want more, but I can't get any😥 get a patron please.
The main character is well thought thru. You can see how being a street kid influences every thing he does.
The book is not really litRPG other than the classes. But the systems is a refreshing take one something old.
I gave it 5 stars because royalroad has way too many books with 5 stars that don't deserve it, but this one does.
Cant really say anything about grammar, because I am dyslexic. It is not my field of expertise....
Summary :
Good book, new take one something old, great characters. Got me hooked so I wrote a review for morechapters, and maybe a patron for 1 or 2 more chapters. please, pretty please GIVE ME MORE!!!!!!😡 - HeavyReaderRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It is good for what it is. The book is from the kid's perspective so it might not appeal to all. I enjoy it. I think a lot of the reviews are overly negative. If you want an underpowered gritty story this fills that niche. Give it a try. Cheers.
- JohnDelvfarRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Greetings! One of the strengths of this story is the truly human dichotomy of "do as I say not as I do" evidenced in this chapter. The fighters repeated risking of his friends even though he regrets immediately. The main character especially not wanting to lose any more team\family but not stopping to get stronger risking his life repeatedly to do so.I look forward to the results, both with the team, his talent, and the greater powers he just encountered.I am eagerly looking forward to what comes next!John delvfar
- msharlo1Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5I have read up to the current chapter (60) in the third book. It was an addicting read as the title says and I read it pretty much all the way through as fast as I could. The main character does have a bit of a world breaking ability that makes him unique but it comes with its own draw backs to compensate. The plot is good and the supporting characters have their own motives for acting in various ways. I would recommend this book to anyone on RR.
I do want to give some criticism to the author in the hopes that they improve, but only with love. So if you are someone else reading this harshly, I will refer you to my above statement and the overall score I gave.
For the author: I would recommend you have someone proof read this, there are some minor grammar errors and other mistakes that I think someone else reading through would catch, for instance Kroseph cuddles Jackal, but coddles Tibs in one of his emotional breakdowns but the text has cuddles as if they were spooning. Similarly there are a few points where you have typing errors like no when you meant to have not. You also fall in to both the virgin and orphan hero tropes which are all to common because of how they simplify stories. Tibs is obviously aware of sex and you give adequate reasons for him avoiding relationships and there is little you can do about him being an orphan at this point, but it is worth considering writing in a serious love interest now that you are on the third book. Someone like Fedora that he could have a real emotional connection with and who might pursue him despite his emotional detachment, shake up his viewpoint on never getting close and add to his maturation (As a person and not an +18 novel). Which leads me to my final criticism which is the PGish way sex is talked about in the book. Tibs often refers to things in a PGish way such as having a "special person" or "them time" which makes sense from his perspective, but it would also make sense that other characters would not follow - CommenatorerRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Dongeoneering is one of my favoirite things about Litrpg genre and this has it in spades!
MC is relatable, not stupid and strong but not game-breakingly so. Side characters are good but there is one relationship where it gets a bit grating with the repitious haming it up. I like the game of thronesish way characters are introduced and culled indiscriminately
however towards the end of the first book the MC gets hurt and you can tell he is going to be gimped/hamstrung in the second book when he goes on a revenge rampage which is a trope i find more then a little annoying.
The world is rich, colourful and has a sense of depth that the genre can somtimes lack. The power system is interesting and the dungeon running is what realy does bring it all together with dashes of power games and classwarfare bringing more flavour to the table.
All in all i would recomend highly but if you find homosexual themes uncomfortable this may not be the read for you. - NurrRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This has been a fun story. However this latest chapter promises to take it up a notch. I confess I'm rating on enthusiasm generated by the chapter but I've got high hopes. I refuse to provide spoilers so all I'll say is a host of new players have entered the arena.
- MyPerfectUsernameRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0It's a good story, have nice pacing, believable characters (tho their characteristics is exaggerated, for example MC's agony is way too much) and worldbuilding is somewhat okayish.
My main issue with this story is release schedule. Author write book and release it as it go on Patreon, and only after he finished all book, he start publishing it on RR. So time between books is... Months. - Selena LangRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Pulled me right in from the start. Slice of life and coming of age tale. So far it's a pretty great story. I'm enjoying it And look forward to the rest of the story. OK I do not want to write a novel just to do a quick short review but it won't let me post anything unless I have ever 50 words on here so I'm just going to keep on keeping on keeping on keeping on keeping on In the hopes I can make this long enough to actually post it. I think authors don't get enough reviews because of this requirement
