Description
Everyone loves babies. Everyone hates dungeons. Problem is, Charlie’s somewhere in between. The Kingdom of Aysela is rebuilding, still recovering a decade after an otherworldly hero saved them from an ancient threat. But there are whispers now that the fight isn't over. When an order of knights attempt to summon the hero back to their world, they instead encounter something unexpected. A baby. After swallowing a dungeon core and being transported to another world, a dirty diaper is suddenly the least of Charlie’s problems. He’s forced to seek out the only person who can explain his strange new circumstances and finds unlikely allies along the way. But everywhere he crawls, he faces new obstacles: crazy cultists, self-righteous knights, and the growing pains that come with his new dungeon related-powers. All while trying not to miss nap time. Dungeon Core Baby is an adventure story with a dungeon based progression system and class. While there are dungeon core elements (he will explore and build his own dungeon over time) do not expect a traditional dungeon core story. Monster evolution, dungeon building, and exploring a unique power system are all just rungs on the ladder to OP. These elements will be introduced over time, as Charlie discovers new abilities. 400,000+ words out now!Updates once per week! Now with Maps, Character Art and even an Official Theme Song! What to expect: -Baby MC with a dungeon-based class system. (Dungeon Manipulation, Traps, Monsters & Minions) -Skill based-progression. (No stats) -Strength progression from literal baby to the strongest. -A growing world where the MC is not the only character who progresses. -No harem elements. (Unless you include people adoring a cute baby. There’s lots of that.) (At this time, Dungeon Core Baby isonlyavailable on Royal Road. If you are reading it anywhere else, it is stolen.)

The moment I started reading I felt like I was plucked up and dropped into the middle of the drama in Aysela. Magic incantations, dark secret rituals? Count me in!
And you can’t tell me (even after reading the title) that you weren’t still caught a little off guard with where Charlie the baby pops into the chaos. Unexpected. Hilarious. 10/10.
The prose and story building is strong and engaging from the first moment and every moment after, I’m holding on for dear life as my eyes scan as fast as they can to gobble up the words in the sentence. I, of course, still give myself enough time to chuckle out loud every time I read Orb’s angsty quips or pick up on Charlie’s adorably naive nature impacting something serious going on.
The creativity and original aspects of the story keep me guessing as to what some of these h*cking animals and characters look like so I’m gonna need to see them illustrated at some point *elbows author lovingly*
Grammar mistakes were nil or didn’t take away from story.
All that to say, I’m hungry for more and I can’t wait to see where this crazy story goes. Also I will need a Bleedy plush someday. I’m needy for Bleedy. - DenisetwinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0What an interesting premise! I'm at chapter ten so far and am really enjoying this baby centered story. I like that it's more than slice of life, but not blood and gore filled, which is good since the main character is the baby. The author has taken care with grammar and spelling which I'm picky about.
- DragonzruleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I wasn't sure what to expect from a story with a baby protagonist but this one exceeded my expectations. The humor is the stand-out feature with some genuine snort-laugh moments (beware where you read it!), and some quirky characters that definitely add color to the tale. With an MC being unable to talk directly and the limitations of a baby form it does feel a bit unnecessarily awkward on occasion, but all in all, this is an enjoyable tale with some darker moments but plenty of redemptive ones to balance that out. Go Charlie!
- Quantum_KatRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I started reading this on a lark. Wasn't at all sure how it was going to play out; but, it seemed a cute premise. Surprisingly, it has been an absolutely fun run.
The grammar and punctuation are well done; tense shifts don't seem to exist; proper spelling is actually a thing; the story is engaging; the author is engaged with his audience. All of these are significant positives.
I find myself invested in the story and looking forwards to each chapter. Definitely a fun diversion, if you want something light and entertaining.
Some might call this LitRPG...I'd say it's more GameLit adjacent. While it does have the rare LitRPG element (stat/system interaction) it is much more focused on the story than the stats/system interaction.
Do be aware that POV shifts happen often enough that it gets very close to multiple MCs. However, it is generally handled well and pertinent to the unfolding of the story. I'm not a big fan of POV shifts/multiple MCs; but, I enjoy this story. So, if you're of a similar bent when it comes to POV shifts, be aware it is present; but, I'd still encourage you to give it a go. You'll likely be very happily surprised. - RavensFantasyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style/Story: This story contains aspects of both dungeon core and isekai with a bit of comical aspects spread throughout the story. The story so far is a unique read as it takes a simple baby and creates it into something more complex. Thus, creating an interesting story that is enjoyable to read!
For style and format, the prose and chapter length are good. The third person narrative is kept throughout the whole story. The overall flow and buildup through the chapters that I have read so far is kept up well and done nicely.
For things that might benefit with some improvement would be a bit more description here and there but overall it isn’t that bad.
Grammar: I haven’t really noticed any grammar issues throughout the story.
Characters: Charlie, Orb, and their minions make for a fun read. The story does a great job in capturing the aspects of a baby and how a baby may act. For their minions, they are a fun aspect and ones that are very enjoyable to read. For Charlie and the Orb I have enjoyed their interactions so far as some of their dialogue has a bit of humor to it. The characters are done well in the story so far!
In Summary: Overall, this is a pretty enjoyable read! A bit of humor added to a dungeon core crafts a great story to read! I mean Minions, Orbs, and a baby dungeon, what more could you ask for? - RetsuRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall:
So far, his book is a total blast! It puts a fun twist on fantasy and isekai genres with its quirky characters and humor. If you’re into light-hearted reads with a lot of laughs, this one’s a winner.
Story:
The story offers a refreshing twist on isekai and dungeon-core conventions by featuring a baby named Charlie as the unlikely hero, alongside the dungeon core Orb and their quirky minions. It’s a lively adventure that mixes humor with some unexpected turns. While the pacing can be a bit uneven at times, the creative interactions and playful dialogue between the characters keep things engaging and entertaining.
Characters:
The characters really shine here! Charlie and Orb are charming, and the minions like Bleedy and Mousifer (my favorite so far) are delightfully goofy. Their interactions are definitely the highlight of the story.
Grammar:
Everything is clean and easy to read. No issues with grammar or spelling here!
Style:
The writing is really fun and quirky. It mixes humor with fantasy in a way that keeps things light and entertaining. The dialogue flows well, though sometimes it feels like it's a bit too much of it, but that's a case in most of fantasy novles. Still, it’s a great read! - RiversideRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Being a new reader to dungeon core books, I did not know what to expect going into this project other than it was a different experience than expected for the genre. Centered on a baby and a spicy dungeon core, the first mini arc does a good job in establishing the world and characters as they navigate a difficult situation. Some minor issues notwithstanding, and which I have provided a few helpful comments about, the open chapters show humor and spirit. I would say if you're in the market for a different take on dungeons, then you should check out this work, read the first seven chapters, and then decide.
- S.D. HussRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'll start with my favorite part of this book. The dialog. Reading through each chapter is a breeze because you get so immersed the banter between the characters. Of whom, are a dungeon core named Orb, a baby named Charlie, and a couple of animal minions that were hilariously obtained (Bleedy had me going). Hat's off to the author for that. It sits more on the comedic side, but has a clear serious tone that underlays the story.
As far a story progression, it progresses very well. Each chapter is structured, a good length, and begins and ends with the reader engaged. The first 7 chapters are like a small arc within itself. Where they fight against a witch named Lusafeen.
Overall I would highly recommend this book. LitRPGs are hit or miss with me, as they tend to go way too into the VR or Game side of it. This book does a great job with keeping the LitRPG side palpable for me. Abilities are displayed and executed really well, (Baby Ultimate ability: Tantrum was my personal favorite.) The fight scenes are great too, with a clear picture being painted with words.
I am looking forward to reading the chapters that continue to come out.
Keep em coming! - HellthyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really like this stike. The story is easy to read whilst still beeing interesting. I dont think i have ever read a story with a floating dungeon core. I can really recommend this story to anyone that just wants to read a cute little story. I love the stile of writing, the side characters are well written, as is the mc.
- Mesa MesaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0There's nothing more satisfying than a book that delivers on its promises. I daresay this fiction has the potential to become a dungeon core classic.
The formatting and flow of the story is smooth and easy to follow. Transitions between chapters aren't jarring and allows the reader to maintain full immersion. The dialogue in particular has to be credited. It's vibrant and engaging, bringing out the depth of the characters. The author skillfully incorporates frequent comedic elements, maintaining a light and enjoyable tone throughout. Personally I prefer a little bit more intensity in the scenes to really grip the reader near the start, but that's just a minor nitpick, especially since it's still the beginning of the narrative. When we really got down to the action scenes, I feel it was executed beautifully.
The character introductions feel just right, with each character harbouring their own unique traits. Charlie and his ragtag bunch of companions exhibit a captivating dynamic that could only be described as satisfyingly enjoyable. The central appeal of there being a baby is fully extracted by the author, adding an extra layer of charm to the story.
The LitRPG mechanics are smoothly integrated into the flow of the story as well, which makes it pleasingly easy to follow. The introductions of the dungeon elements are well-paced, avoiding any sense of being rushed. From what I can currently derive from the story, there's significant potential for these aspects to develop further.
Nothing much to comment on grammar other than the fact that it was impeccable.
Overall, I highly recommend dungeon core enthusiasts, or people who are interested in the genre to check Dungeon Core Baby out. It's high-quality narrative and memorable characters will make it worth your time!
