Description

Ravalia is a world full of dungeons and adventurers but, unlike most worlds, the dungeons aren’t hostile. Instead, dungeons serve as a source of entertainment. Dungeon masters setup gauntlets for prospective hero groups to conquer, rewarding those that do, while broadcasting their attempts to the wider world. Talia, an Arachne girl, wants to be an adventurer and conquer dungeons, instead of defending them. Unfortunately, long held prejudices, and Tailia’s unfortunate lack of martial and magical abilities, holds her back. One day, after being rejected from another adventuring group, Talia is approached by a dungeon master in order to recruit her. The catch? It’s for a new type of entertainment, dungeon vs dungeon conflicts, the confrontation league. Although she’s hesitant, due to some bad experiences with dungeons in the past, she agrees to at least entertain the idea. This is a record of her making friends, and having adventures, while working within 'The Wailing Manor'

What's an out-of-work dungeon monster to do?
Set in a magitek world where dungeon dives are the hottest pro-sports event imaginable, Duelling Dungeons (sic) follows a semi-retired mini-boss as she attempts to make her big comeback. This is a world where both adventurers and monsters have fan clubs, where pro dungeons have talent scouts constantly looking for exotic new species to add to their staff, and every family with a few coppers can get the latest pay-per-view match on their crystal tablets for a few coppers.
Forced out of her family dungeon (the Arachne Depths) due to an ugly feud with her sisters, Talia has spent the last couple of years trying to join the adventuring side of the sport. Despite being a talented beast tamer and exceptional strategist, none of the farm teams (let alone the pro adventuring parties) will touch her. Arachne are just too exotic, with too lousy a reputation, to sell t-shirts or promote a line of toys. They want a human, or an elf. Something safe and easily marketable to a broad audience.
And Talia doesn't want to go back to being a dungeon boss. She's in demand there, but . . .well, too many bad memories.
Until the talent scouts from the Wailing Manor approach Talia about the new league. One that hasn't been announced yet. One that'll pit dungeon against dungeon. And they make Talia an offer she can't refuse . . .
While stories from the dungeon's perspective are relatively common on Royal Road, the professional sports angle really helps Dueling Dungeons stand out, while also helping explain many of the conventions. Boss fights have to have predictable patterns so that the league can evaluate the difficulty of the dungeon, and the casinos can properly set the betting odds. The floors have to proceed from easy to hard to keep the match going as long as possible to squeeze in as many ads as they can, as well as get the audience psyched for a rematch. We haven't seen the paparazzi yet, but they've definitely been mentioned.

Maybe at time a (very) litle too slow. A view from external point can be interesting? (I'm very curius of what think the dangeon :-) )

Style&Story - This is a really well written original story that I really really wanted to love. Especially as I heavily enjoy their SCS fanfic.
In the end though, they have taken my favourite Dungeon Core Fantasy genre, and they made the MC into a generic middle manager in a corporate entertainment company.
Characters - Interesting and likeable.
Grammar - Well edited, smooth read.
