Description

Isaac is a runaway slave who joins the Nasaaran army in hopes of figuring out why he dreams of a city he's never been to and achieving his grander ambitions.

The drums of war beat once again after 20 long years of peace. For some it's an opportunity for revenge for the blood shed all those years ago, for others it's another disheartening decision in a line of terrible decrees from an inept king, and for us it's an opportunity to escape the chains that bind us down and search for where we belong in this world and for what purpose do we keep breathing.

But should you follow your dreams if they're drenched in the blood of others? What if we follow them regardless knowing the inevitable consequences?

"Every night I dream the same dream. What does it mean? Where will it lead me? And for what purpose do I have this dream? I don't know. All I know is I need to get out of this barn."

Current release schedule is Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday at 1:06 PM PT.

What readers say about Dreams Built by Blood and Blade

  • I enjoyed it and think that the author deserves more recognition. Honestly better than a lot of the other stuff more people are into. That's really it for me. I have nothing more to say but am forced to keep on writing so I will until I can stop.

Amazing story. Very well-written main protagonist, and it's the best fantasy story I have ever read on this site.
I was captivated by the different characters and I loved the worldbuilding that was implemented naturally throughout, instead of one massive infodump at the start of the story.
Well done to the author. :)

Just your average teenager trying to make it big in a dark  medieval fantasy world, but falling horribly as he is cruelly hit by reality . The world building is my favorite part of this story and even the most minor characters
have depth and proper back stories , this story doesn't pull back punches with it's dark tone . I really enjoyed it with all my heart.
also , Best wishes to the author.

The story so far: mc escapes shitty conditions to fall into shittier ones. Self improvement along the way. The latest one is very entertaining and about a cult he's forced into. He's trying to Sabatoage and destroy it from the inside before getting caught. #Grimdark
Mc: not cringe, increasingly ruthless. His thoughts are well written.
Side characters: not cringe, not one dimensional.
Overall a fun read if you like grimdark stories that aren't super cringe.

Author decided that the story didn't "take of" as greatly as he wanted it to, so he decided to drop this one and start writing another, more conventional and appealing to the larger audience. He did say that he may or may not come back to this one, but we all know what that means.
I respect his decision, but that doesn't mean i agree with it. This one was good, and appealing to my tastes just fine, and unlike a lot of grimdarkey stories on RR had just the right ratio of grimdark and story.
But anyway, who am i to judge the author? It's his book.
If you want a good book with an abrupt end, this one's just for you.

Gritty sword and magic story, main characters solidly in the moral grey as they try to survive events bigger than them and unwelcome delimmas. Clearly the main characters are not over powered. Story so far is introductory, getting the background done and building up. There is enough foreshadowing to maintain anticipation of power bloom as the story progresses.
The narrative is engaging, but the dialogue is sparse, or maybe short and tight, depending how you look at it. The author maintains a good balance between slow burn and frantic pace.
