Book 1 goes live on Amazon and Audible on May 16th, 2023. Chapters for Book 2 are continuing to post here. Thanks for all your support Royal Road.Dragon Sorcerer on AmazonIs it snark if you're a dragon?
Nico, a young dragon of barely fifty, is rudely chased from his home by a group of murderous adventurers. Of his entire clutch, only he and one sister remained, but now he is alone.
Isolated and hungry, Nico’s magic awakens, bonding him with Cami, a brave, young woman.
In order to hide from the adventurers’ pursuit, Nico takes on human form. However, once they discover that both he and Cami have magical ability they are required by law to attend the Imperial Academy.
Of course, he has to hide his true nature, which isn't always easy, given a dragon sized ego.
General Information-
https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B0C4HJB4RDA publication date has been decided on for Amazon. The story will publish on May 16th on Amazon with KU and Audible at the same time. That means that the content of the first book will be pulled 3-4 days before that. Material for book 2 will continue to be here.
This is a litrpg story complete with levels, classes, stats, gear, spells and skills, and some limited quests. The stats mean something for the development of the character but full stat sheets are only repeated in their own chapters after there have been changes. You could enjoy the story without the stats but I believe they add to it.
There is some romance which will be handled slowly. This occurs between multiple characters but is NOT harem in any way, nor will it be poly. There will simply be more than one couple in the story, each working through romances in their own way.
I included the gore tag because there is some significant violence but I don't believe it is particularly bloody. The story is told from the first person perspective of Nico, but there area number of interludes which tell the story from Cami's perspective but in 3rd person. She could be considered the second main character.
My goal is to post several chapters in rapid succession and then a chapter every day M-F.
The chapters will vary in length between 1800-4000 words as the story dictates. Most will be between 2000-2500 words. The prologue is shorter.

- kereeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book does a lot of things right. It uses multiple points of view to add something to the story. It manages to include backstory for side characters in a way that doesn't feel forced. I actually care for people who aren't the main character. Then there are relationships that we are watching there is building mystery in the background giving you something to look forward to. I don't see how the author can keep delivering in this style but if he does this book is going to be something far beyond what this website usually delivers. Little things here and there that I think an editor might improve but frankly don't detract from the story.
- VeritasVinoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Compelling characters and a story that sucks you in. Read all in a day and can not wait to read more.
Spelling and grammar errors are few and far between and thus not subtracting from the story.
If I had to say anything critical about the story (besides the length - need more chapters, pls) it would be my worry, that the fMC Cami will become a Mary Sue, but hey there are few indications that this is in the cards and you are reading a story from the perspective of a dragon a being, that is known for its hubris.
5/5 give it a try m8 - DCHaruRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Sean Burke is a highly talented writer who has already published several books on Amazon. He has finally brought one of his stories to Royal Road, and it is excellent. Nico is a young (only fifty years old) dragon. As everyone knows, dragons are magical beings.Through an odd series of circumstances, our young dragon decides that being magical is not enough, he wants to learn magic. To accomplish this end, he must lower himself to posing as one of those hideous, mostly hairless primates known as humans. Along the way, he befriends a fourteen-year-old girl (or maybe she befriends him), and they become companions and maybe more. Follow Nico's adventures as he tries to adapt to the confusing and complicated world of human behavior and emotions.
The characters are engaging, the plotline is fun, and the litRPG elements are not too intrusive (a problem with some of the work you see here. Nothing like a fifteen-page character sheet every other chapter to break up a story). In addition, the prose flows well, and there are almost none (at least, I haven't seen any) of the terrible editing mistakes that, unfortunately, seem to be common here on the site. In all, this is an excellent piece of writing. It is no Lord of the RIngs, but as a light, fun, read, it succeeds admirably. - fearnburnerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have enjoyed the story so far and am looking forward to seeing how the author develops the world, the characters and the story (also interested is seeing what happens with Patch and Rollie).
The way the mc is already growing and is being corrupted by his human disguise while eagerly learning about humanity has been fun. Learning to read should be a good mini arc. His interactions with the divine and his desire/need to keep his word should prove tricky. - Felix FerrumRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've been following Oswald's work for over a year now... well some of his other works anyway. This is a good start to what I am hoping will be a romantic fantasy novel! The writing is solid and I am enjoying the more stilted, urge driven nature of the young dragon's musings. The first four chapters have sparked my interest and I will be looking forward to future chapters.
- PunpopeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Nico, a young dragon forced into human form, teams up with Cami to evade murderous adventurers. As they navigate the Imperial Academy, hiding their magical abilities, Nico's dragon-sized ego proves a challenge. Follow their hilarious and heartwarming journey as they confront danger, uncover secrets, and discover the true meaning of friendship amidst the chaos of their newfound lives. Prepare for laughter, adventure, and perhaps a bit of fire-breathing sass along the way!
- Greg EckertRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I absolutely loved this book! The unique perspective of writing the viewpoint from a dragon kept me entranced! The grammar and spelling were all on point, the story line was both interesting and entertaining, and the characters interactions were great. I highly recommend this and every other book by the authors.
- Lodf2222Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Incredible story. Nico is great curious dragon putting aside his superior nature for curiosity. He has been driven from his home and the same group is forcing him to go to academy as per human requirrments for mages. Cami is great, now dragon blooded, sorcerer. Good pacing of world building. Like how the stats have been done .Looking forward to more.
- ToggRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0the story is well written with no obvious grammatical errors (although i'm not literary expert, i do read A LOT).... not fast paced... but also not really a slow burn. I have enjoyed it so far and as long as the author keeps writting it... i'll keep reading it. damn 50 word minimum.... why waste words when i can say what i want in 47
- malinizgeldiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0And the novel definitely deserves 5 stars. I was about to skip the novel because the summary was not descriptive enough, if you know that, my writer friend. Besides, let's move on to the good aspects; As I said, the character development is quite nice and the dialogues are pretty good. I think especially the relationship between Cami and Nico has a very sweet felicity line, they are very sweet and I think this atmosphere of romance is very pleasant. Besides, the mosque is a 15-year-old village girl and this is shown in many places, but she only shows it in one or two places. as if his character history was something else entirely. Modessa, on the other hand, is a very repulsive character in my opinion, and her background only makes it more unbearable, reinforcing the fact that she's just an emotional stepping stone in this novel, and it looks pretty fake. Overall I'm happy with the other characters. I will probably look at the novel again a year later and continue to read it. I will now move on to a more serious truth. The future of the novel is completely predictable, even the plot is predictable. The only thing that really interests me in the novel is the relationship dynamics of Cami and Nico. I don't care about the novel world because it wasn't conveyed enough to me. I'll leave the author to fix them later. but this novel still deserves 5 points
