So, when my mundane existence comes to an end and I am offered a choice of whatever race I liked upon reincarnating into a fantasy world, of course I chose dragon.Little did I know that my life as a dragon would take more than its fair share of twists and turns. - R.JinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall, it’s very good—aside from a few spelling mistakes. The way the author writes is genuinely impressive. There’s real depth here: strong characterization, clear cause and effect, and a narrative flow that feels natural rather than manufactured. Nothing feels forced; the plot feels earned, which is something many stories fail to achieve.
What stood out most was the deliberate use of past tense. At first, I assumed it was a mistake. But then it clicked—the story is being narrated from the main character’s point of view after she has become something else. No longer human. At the very least, a soul. That realization reframes everything, and once you see it, the choice becomes clever rather than flawed.
The inclusion of the old angel woman is spot on for this kind of story. She fits the tone perfectly and reinforces the theme without overexplaining it. Even the way the author’s intent comes through feels familiar—almost painfully so. Waiting in front of a PC, unsure, hesitating, wondering when or whether to finally share those first chapters. Anyone who’s tried to publish something understands that feeling.
And honestly, who wouldn’t want to be reborn as a dragon? Being human is mundane. Being a dragon is freedom, power, and wonder. - WeldtRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Quite silly and enjoyable read there are a few plot points about lack of suspicion other than that I felt it was quite enjoyable read and I'll keep it on my follow for future updates.
It's just a normal reincarnation story with some grand quest in the background it's fun to see her discover the world from a different aspect I would have loved if the author would go heavy in that direction but still what the author did is good.
I would just tell you if you like non human leads then this is one of the better ones and it's not a Lit-RPG I have trouble reading those. - PoeticHarmonyRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I love dragons and was attracted to this story easily.
It's an easy read if you look past all the typos/ spelling errors, which can be a bit distracting. The chapters are short as well, but I don't know if they'd be considered too short. I think they have just enough information to be considered 'just long enough'.
The story is wonderful. There are some aspects which the MC agrees are cliche, but the sass of the MC make this story interesting. Also, the world building is off to a good start.
I'm still a bit apprehensive about some things, but this story is certainly worthy so far of continued reading. I really hope the author finds their muse again soon. - MusemakerRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5The chapters could definitely use some polish and proofreading beyond spell-check. The narrative is engaging and the sentence syntax is generally good. And I've mostly enjoyed what I've read so far. However, this reader could not get past the numerous immersion-breaking eggcorns and spelling blunders which, after reading some of the comments, feels more like intentional disrespect and disregard for a readers time and attention than an honest offering of an author's work.
- rs92Royal Road★★ 2.0Title of the review covers the good points. The work is just old school amateur fiction and not in a good way. I normally wouldn't even leave a review for an author of this level, but the author written several works and has hundreds of followers on this work alone, so fair game, I guess?
The spelling and grammar are terrible. You’ll see a page’s worth of correction of edit suggestions in comments of every chapter. The author’s response is effectively ‘what a dope I am,’ and ignoring them.
The story itself takes a while to get going. The basic premise is reincarnation as a dragon and the newborn dragon goes to hunt poachers who took his siblings and killed her dragon mother. Standard stuff.
The dragon stuff at this point is quite mild, doesn’t really provide any power fantasy fulfilment. But the author also skates over any difficulty e.g. newborn dragon will have to hunt for food and there are monsters bigger than her. Time skip, 2 months, never any problems. I’d definitely say it leans more towards power fantasy, it just hasn’t done much of it.
There was some mildly interesting ecology, I guess. It’s not helped by the clunky prose. Even if everything was spelled correctly with perfect grammar, it’d be bland at best and awkward/bad at worst.
There is a vague system with skill points. Dragon has lots of points inherited, enough to give herself any skill at any point, perfect set up for a Deus Ex Machina. First thing she gets:
humanoid form ability. Which defeats the point of a human reincarnating as a dragon…
TL;DR It has a dragon, dragon will probably go through without much trouble and gain power whenever she feels like it. If that’s your thing, have a blast. Seems like the work is stopped and may continue or may not, though. It’d be an alright kid’s book, despite the MC being an adult before reincarnating.
