Living death that roams the lands of Voldrakis. They grasp the gift of life defiling it until even the reaper himself no longer recognizes what he's taking to the underworld. Demons, monsters, curses, and maladies have been used to name them yet in the end these creatures are nothing but evil. Only the flame of a dragon can restore the natural order that has been twisted by them.

Then arrived the existence of those capable of wielding the dragon's flame, arising from massacre and futility, the age of the Dragon Marked pushed back the evil. Hailed as heroes, kings, knights, and demigods through stories and songs they are those chosen by the dragons.

Tarn Darnjaz has wanted to become a Dragon Marked since the day he'd turned eighteen. Each night he'd wish upon the heavens to be chosen and bound to a dragon who saw him worthy of the title. The fervent hearth burning in his heart to be seen as something more than himself, A hero, A Dragon Marked.

Five years later he is still unmarked and working as a lock maker in his home village Folkheim. He spends his days working and his nights drinking, the alcohol his sole comforter in his disappointing life. The cure to his envy as he watched his closest friend live the dream he'd always wanted.

Then one day his world falls apart leaving Tarn to pick up the pieces of his ruined home and to save the one person he had left alongside the companionship of an unexpected gift.
