Description

Status Update: June 29th - I never did get back to this, and I doubt I will. Feel free to read this if you'd like, but don't expect it to ever be finished.

A new LitRPG Weak-to-Strong progression adventure! Find yourself in a new world where you, like me, can get your head caved in by a guy with a club after about five minutes! Take a look at a world that doesn't have gaming abstractions viewed through the lens of a guy who does!

My name is Niles Thatcher. One day, on my way home from work, I was given a package. Inside that package was this... thing called the Paradigm Shift Device, or PSD for short. When I started playing around with it, I eventually found myself in this brand new world. It doesn't look too different from ours, except that in our world, I had never been clubbed unconscious from behind before. So... Woohoo! New experiences!

Anyways, I don't know what I'm doing here, or why I was given this thing, but I'm here now, and once I get away from these jerks that imprisoned me, I am going to figure it out.

So, come take a look! We have: Bandits with cool names, demi-vampire women who kick ass, goddesses who flirt shamelessly, a thought out game system that integrates itself into a non-game world, and of course, yours truly, Niles! A guy! A normal, average, everyday guy! Watch me get isekai'ed so hard, I'm basically guaranteed to get overpowered eventually. I hope. It would really suck if the guy writing this story decided it would be more fun for me to struggle constantly.

Ok, let me start off by saying, this story takes readers on a journey through a world of magic, trials, and personal growth. The story has a good balance of action, introspection, and world-building.
The protagonist, Niles Thatcher, is a compelling character. His transformation from a corporate worker to a mage navigating a new world is engaging. His strength lies in his adaptability and resilience, which are tested throughout the series. However, his character could benefit from more depth. For instance, in Chapter 10, "Personal Trial," Niles confronts his own undead corpse. This could have been an opportunity to delve deeper into his psyche, but the emotional impact of this confrontation felt somewhat superficial.
The narrative structure of the series is generally well-executed, with each chapter presenting a new challenge for Niles. However, there are instances where the pacing feels off. For example, in Chapter 7, "Once More Onto the Breach," the action sequences are somewhat rushed, leaving little room for tension to build. A more measured pace could enhance the suspense and excitement of these scenes.
The series also shines in its world-building. The author has created a unique and detailed world, with its own rules and systems. The LitRPG elements are well-integrated into the story, adding an extra layer of complexity to Niles' journey. The exposition of these elements can sometimes feel heavy-handed. A more subtle approach to introducing the world's mechanics could make the story flow more smoothly.
In terms of grammar and style, the series is generally well-written. The author has a clear and engaging writing style, although there are occasional lapses into overly formal language that can disrupt the narrative flow.
Despite these criticisms, there are many aspects of the series that stand out. One particularly memorable moment occurs in Chapter 6, "The Choice," where Niles makes a significant decision that showcases his growth as a character. This moment is

This is your standard Isekai with a great hook, and darker take on much more dangerous world. The character is very average but, he has a big heart, and is relatable. Whether that's or good or bad is too soon to tell. He isn't the smartest, but he isn't stupid for tension either.
The author does a great job with the grammar I saw nothing obviously wrong myself. The writing style is fluid without errors, with the fight scenes being clear, concise, and easily followed. I really liked them and find them the highlight of the writing. My only issue the story itself and the direction it took at chapter 8. It's soured my taste substantially. Below is why I won't continue it any further... Spoiler alert!
The story in that single chapter comitts a few various cliche's that make the rest of the story far too predictable and also kill any real connection, believability, and all tension of the side characters, and the world he finds himself in. Namely, fate/destiny trope, which kills free will in the inhabitants of that world but he is special.
The gods champion trope, working for the god thing
and lastly the vampire/elf trope. If you like the concept of fate and meddling gods enforcing a predetermination upon everyone this is for you. Otherwise this story has 0 tension or connection to the world he is in. As everyone living there aside from him has their fate already determined.

The title literally sums it up. To summarize the first 10 chapters; MC is getting Isekai inside a dungeon. kills the boss with 2 people and only 1 girl survives. mc dies and then returns completely to the Isekai world for this girl he has never met, even though he dies in agony. At this point, let me say: He doesn't know the girl at all, ever. On the first day of school, we can say that 1 person you just met is jumping in front of the car, moreover, the car is traveling at 15 kilometers per hour on the girl. so it's not fast. The girl herself can escape from this car on foot.
It is impossible to describe what mc did at this point, which is illogical. On top of that, he later makes a pointless deal with a god for the same girl and turns himself completely into support. Look, it's not absurd for him to make these choices, his REASONS FOR CHOICES ARE ABSOLUTELY and meaningless. The reasons are so absurd that you faint while reading it.
