This story is quietly devastating in the most deliberate and artful way. As the tale progresses, it becomes clear that the author isn’t just telling a fantasy tale - this is a story about disconnection, perception, and the weight of unspoken emotions. And it’s doing it exceptionally well.
The prose is the story’s strongest asset. The writing is lyrical without being indulgent, capturing sensory experience and internal emotion with minimal yet vivid detail. There’s rhythm to the narration - like a low, thoughtful hum - that mirrors the protagonist’s worldview. Each line feels crafted for emotional resonance, especially in how silence is portrayed not as emptiness, but presence. Some people may find the short, sharp sentences grating, but I found them to be punchy and engaging.
The story structure now feels purposeful. Rather than throwing readers into a plot-heavy arc, it eases us in through memory, internal reflection, and subtle hints of something larger to come. The slow pacing fits the character and subject matter. The initial supernatural hook remains intriguing, and now we see how the emotional groundwork gives that moment its gravity.
The writing is technically sound. Grammar and punctuation are clean, and sentence flow is smooth and readable. Minor stylistic quirks feel intentional rather than accidental, which suits the reflective tone.
The protagonist’s voice is quiet but distinct. Through sparse dialogue and deep introspection, we learn volumes about who he is. His isolation is never melodramatic - it’s honest. His parents, though secondary, feel real: not cruel, just imperfect. The emotional nuance here is subtle and well-developed.
This is a literary, emotionally-driven story wrapped in speculative threads. It’s not fast-paced, but it’s powerful - perfect for readers who want introspection and quiet beauty before the storm.

This novel offers a truly unique reading experience, almost like drifting through prose and poetry simultaneously. The pacing starts out deliberately slow, but when the story truly progresses, it carries a quiet but powerful force. There's a strong emphasis here on grounded, humanistic themes, with a clear focus on developing the inner lives of the characters, making it particularly rewarding for readers who appreciate literary fiction.
The grammar and prose are excellent, not in a showy way, but in a manner that truly serves the emotional resonance of the writing. The author demonstrates a skillful command of language. It’s a story driven by its literary feel and the weight of its emotions. The more fantastical elements are deeply rooted in realistic portrayals, which makes them all the more intriguing.
My only minor quibble would be the brevity of each chapter; I often found myself wanting just a little more. However, I suspect this is a conscious choice by the author, aiming to convey a significant amount with concise language, which stands in contrast to some online fiction that prioritizes word count. It’s a testament to their confidence and control over their writing.
Overall, this is a novel that invites you to slow down and immerse yourself. It gently guides you into a distinctive inner world, allowing you to feel those often-overlooked nuances of emotion. It’s like savoring a fine tea – the more you take your time with it, the more depth and richness you discover.

Really like the style, easy to read but has a hint of uniqueness. This feels written from someone very informed on hearing loss from the individual’s perspective.
Very interested to see where things go from here. It’s not often we have an MC with a disability and would be interesting to see how this could be used as a strength.

Nice story... I like the concept and the plot.  This one is my favorite so far. The chapters are too short, but toooo short. I'd prefer 1000 words per chapter. Keep it up and don't drop the srory. So far I am enjoying the novel, and the grammar and precision are top notch. Good work, keep it up.

The story starts out slow, but if you enjoy a good slice of life and chill story, the first half of this is that. While the pacing is deliberate early on, it sets a strong foundation for why the main character is the way he is. It has nice steady pacing on its world building and great detail on how the world feels to a deaf person. The description of the boy's disability and his point of view as the world goes on around him is a nice addition to the story. It is one of those story that you just know the weakness of the boy will become a good strength in the story. It is intriguing and keeps you reading to see how it all plays out. The story's individual chapters are short, but I prefer to see it as bite sized so that you can get a little bit of story more often. Get ready to see the character progress from kindergarten to high school. You get glimpses of the real world in the story too which surprised me. Like the death of a famous person, Covid, and specific game titles. It makes the world in the story feel real and alive. So far, there is no action yet but I assume it will pick up once the main story line's central event happens. Keep it up.

    Style:
The writing here really stands out, mostly because it feels effortlessly immersive. It's minimalistic yet vivid, like quick brushstrokes painting clear images. The short, rhythmic sentences match perfectly with the protagonist's quiet, introspective personality. Some readers might find the clipped style a bit abrupt at first, but honestly, it works beautifully for the theme and character.
    Story:
The story moves slowly and deliberately, carefully laying the groundwork instead of rushing into action or fantasy. It's deeply rooted in real-life experiences, making the emotional stakes feel genuine and significant. The supernatural elements are subtle, teased out gently, which adds intrigue but might frustrate readers who prefer faster pacing. Still, this gradual build-up feels intentional, creating a solid emotional foundation before diving deeper into the speculative elements.
    Grammar:
Technically, the story is solid. Grammar, punctuation, and sentence flow are clean, smooth, and purposeful. There aren't noticeable mistakes or awkward constructions, and any stylistic quirks clearly serve the narrative rather than distract from it.
    Character:
The protagonist is thoughtfully portrayed, quietly compelling without leaning into unnecessary drama. His hearing impairment is depicted authentically, making his perspective feel genuine and respectful. Side characters like the family and close friends are believable and relatable, subtly nuanced in their imperfections. However, because interactions are minimal, some readers might initially feel a little distant emotionally from secondary characters
