- LifeWisherRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Disciple of Fate starts with a small tournament arc – something we have all grown to want more of. It quickly becomes apparent that this is not a simple cultivation story but something with much more depth. The author manages to intertwine cultivation and LitRPG in a unique way.
Honestly, the use of the System is very impressive and I think a lot of thought has been put into creating it. While it is complicated, it is also presented in a way that is easy to digest and doesn’t create confusion in the reader. Really great job from the author.
I love the addition of the map. It is well made and gives further feeling of a very fleshed out world.
The story is pretty straightforward as we join Cenn in his journey and growth. There is a lot to unpack about his family and circumstances, so I will not spoil it here. However, I will mention that we quickly meet a various cast of side characters that are well done and remain interesting despite their ever-growing number.
The grammar is great, with few mistakes that can be easily fixed. The story is a participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge so I don’t think it’s fair to take points away for that.
Overall, the author has managed to somehow include a little bit of everything we know and love from the genre in a very short number of chapters, leaving us hungry for more!
I think it is a very promising story that you should all try. - SmirkyWRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style - I would say the System used is the most attractive part of this story. It's reminiscent of dnd and other LitRPG systems, while also having much of its own flavor and individuality. Even with that said, the System is presented in a way that doesn't make reading feel like a chore. No huuuuge stat sheets that any reader will need to thoroughly decipher, just what we need to see, when its needed.
Story - The description says it all, really. You're sure to get what you expect, but that's not a bad thing at all. I love adventures, and the wide worldbuilding that can come with it. Looking forward to more!
Grammar - Docking half a star here because there were some noticeable mistakes. They didn't make the story harder to read, as much as they made me stop and think for a moment, but they were noticeable enough that I feel its worth a half star being taken away. Aside from some errors though, the rest is perfect.
Character - The characters are done nicely, and I'm especially looking forward to see how Cenn will progress both in power and personality once he gets a lot of real-world experience.
Overall, the story is one of those where what you see is what you get, and personally, I think that's fantastic. The author has a clear vision for the story, and is going to follow it. I doubt I'll even see any quality drop-offs later on, if things keep going as they do. So, overall, good story! Keep up the good work!
