Description
Michael decided to play a VR game with his daughter one day. Helping her create her character, he temporarily changed his avatar’s appearance to give her a better idea of what she wanted. It was just his bad luck that it was at this exact moment that thousands of people, including them, were all taken to another world in the forms of their avatars, exactly as they were at that moment.
Discovering that the game he had been playing for years was actually based on a real world was one thing, but suddenly having to live in that world and raise his daughter there was another.
On top of all of that, he’s a mom now instead of a dad. And the weird part is that he actually doesn’t hate it.

Note: I put bars between paragraphs of dialogue spoken by one character as another way of connecting the paragraphs. It's something I've been experimenting with.

- JmbfarmerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Nice easy going slice of life. The time skips were.good kept everything moving at a decent pace. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this light easy story was a good change of pace you can tell the author likes the characters alot, compaired to ones I've read lately have seemed like the author actively hates their own character. Thanks for the great story!
- Myriad StarflurryRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0(Well admittedly one of the characters ends up being more genderfluid, but the rest of the characters and plot barely has any male focus.)
This story was a comfortable read with themes of adapting to new situations (gender, bodies, world/magic, society, etc.), found family, forming new connections and relationships, freedom of expression, and striving to live the best lives one can.
Things don't always go the way the characters want, and while they do have certain advantages over the average person, they aren't the most powerful or the best at what they do. Instead, they leave their own unique flavors of impact upon the world, and I found that this added to their relatability and the realism of the story.
Overall an enjoyable and relatively comfy read, with a strong focus on character journeys, connections, and people helping each other to be the best they can be in a new world. <3
(Thank you for the story!) - RoatierFernRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story was fun to read. It was well-written and has an interesting story. The only complaint I have is that it was too short, but that's just because it was so good lol. There's not enough good quality stories in this particular genre. I'm glad that I found this story.
- TDScholarRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0We LGBT+ need representation, and I think this story does a good job about it. There's a genderfluid protagonist and an aroace coprotagonist. The way they reveal that part of their identities might feel a bit "in your face", but us LGBT+ tend to do that when amongst ourselves, feeling comfortable. And while this part of their identities can be important for a story beat here and there, the story doesn't revolve around that. SURPRISE, THEY'RE NORMAL PEOPLE.
The story also takes several isekai tropes and presents them in a more realistic way instead of a power fantasy, which I really enjoyed. - MethefantasticRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is a cozy little story, where the main character doesn’t suddenly become overpowered, or accustomed to their new reality insanely quickly. The wholesome moments and slice of life feel deserved. It is also one of the few novels that I believe portray gender identity struggles and growth quite well on this site. If you disagree, or have a better example, please do share.
The only reason I am not giving all 5 stars is because of the rushed ish ending, which the author explained why in quite the expansive authors note at the end.
Do I regret starting this at 2 am? Yes, but only because I binged the entire story and it is now 4:30 am and need to wake up in 3 hours.
