Descendants of Ether is a tale spanning several centuries in the history of the world of Chao, from is mythology and creation, to the war between two equally destructive forces of light and darkness. For lovers of original mythology and worldbuilding, the tale is well-worth checking out, with easy-to-read chapters and good grammar.
The prose can be somewhat basic at times, and it tends to be light on character descriptions, in a manner reminding me of Light Novels, though for the most part the environment is well-described and the names of species gives one a good impression of what their characterists should be. Thus far, the story seems to follow Delphius, leader of the purity-obsessed Aetherians, and Tetra, general of the destructive and chaotic Cytonians. So far we have mostly focused on Tetra's side of the conflict, and he has been shown to be something of a villain protagonist, though never to the point where the story feels grimdark, hopeless, or mean-spirited. Many tragic events occur which he is responsible for, but lighthearted events also occur.
The main appeal seems to be exploring the world of Chao and its history, but more focus could be spent on descriptions and what makes the various areas unique. We're still early into the story, though. Overally, a promising introduction to the world of Chao.
