Death is a Suggestion [LitRPG Necromancer Comedy]
Community Rating
Description
Summoned to a new world as conscripted cannon fodder, with a low grade class and little hope for survival, Levi's outlook is grim. Rather than die for a country he doesn't care about, Levi and a fellow isekaied healer immediately plan their escape.
But things never go according to plan. Before long, both Levi and his healer end up dead in a ditch.
This isn't the end for our heroes, however. Their antics attract the interest of the Goddess of Death. She has high hopes for them... and more importantly, a powerful unique class, Necromancer. But Levi isn't suited for looming in the backline and summoning zombies. He's a melee fighter, and he intends to necromance from the front lines. Loosed upon the countryside, Levi and his newly undead healer, Colin, take on the world, the apocalypse, and everything else.

- SinkableConfidenceRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Tossing my review in to help balance the positive and negative. I feel a lot of people who read this book didn't read the first book. Levi has a reason for being a deranged psychopath. And you know what? He's probably, hands down, my favorite protagonist at the moment. Before he even gets to this world he goes through some major events. He's balancing what little morality he has with his own insanity and grief he doesn't want to acknowledge. Unfortunately, just jumping into this book without reading the first one makes Levi seem a little one dimensional. I believe this book is written from the perspective of the people he meets in it more so than from Levi himself. You get tidbits and flashes of stuff we already know, but a little more that we don't. He's definitely not supposed to be a likeable person. I get the feeling he doesn't even like himself, most the time. If I met a Levi in real life, I'd run screaming for the hills. That being said, he and his insanity are written so very well.
I cant wait for Noct to continue. - BemusedRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Ok, so... the start was a bit rough. But once the story gets going, this is feeling like a good adventure with a wry comedic twist. Granted, the comedy tends to be a bit dark.
And the author does have some interesting twists on the genres.
Anyways, I am looking forward to seeing how this plays out. - VenomnickRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A lot of people are saying that the MC is too snarky but I love it I read all that is out so far and can’t wait for more it’s a great story with a sassy mc definitely would recommend to anyone who wants comedy mixes with sassyness. Keep it up author.
- Isa BayfieldRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0From the title alone, I thought not much of it. However, the author is one of my favorites, so of course I gave it a try.
This is a very entertaining plot. I like the MC and I consider his companion a splendid one, too. They both make the best of the situation they are in. I like the tone of their conversations. Still curious about what the undead friend will admit to like to eat. Really a fun dilemma.
The plot so far is interesting and entertaining. I am looking forward to each new chapter.
Will come back and add more later. - Levi of the ScytheRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's been long since I read a story that intersted me in development so much. I wanted see how it went on and even lost hours on sleep. I liked it So much that I created an account for this site and kept the name as a rememberance just to give this story a rating that i liked it.
Personal opinion btw, i don't care if anyone else doesn't like it. - BalduduRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Levi reminds me of Jason Asano from "He who fights Monsters" and I'm here for every stupid airheaded joke he makes. Can't wait to find out more about his past and how many skills he can get without sticking too much to the standard Necro RPG trope RR is filled with
- phoenixofeclipseRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0To be fair, I understand the reasoning behind people's dislike of Levi. He's a sociopathic nutcase that is categorically incapable of taking anything seriously. If you don't want that, then don't read - but no story is for EVERYONE, and even as someone who'd be all too happy to see this MC die horribly a few times, I've been enjoying the ride. That's for 3 reasons.
First- people are giving Colin too little credit. He's an everyman, an introvert, and frankly, he's going through some shit. Give him a chance. He's not meant to be a spotlight stealer, but he's got his own charm as well. I actually enjoyed his moral objections and how he frequently shares the readers opinions on the MC's ... let's call it 'sense of humor'.
Second, the fight scenes are VERY well written, and while the main character is OP by in world standards, he has the astonishing ability to almost magnetically attract the few people that pose a legitamate threat to his survival on a regular basis. This means that you get a good mix of beatdowns, narrow victories, and even outright 'run before we die' scenarios from time to time.
Third and last of all... frankly, the MC is an idiot, but he talks enough like ... well, like most people online, to be honest, that he's a weirdly understandable idiot. He's a personified comments section. What he likes, he loves. What he doesn't, he'll reply to with a comeback that will either land as witty or obnoxious, frequently managing to be both. Yeah he's insane, and I wouldn't want to hang out with him, but he also comes from a literal apocalypse, so who am I to judge?
The reader. I'm the reader. AND I AM JUDGING SO HARD. A little more humanity and humility on the mc would make this a 5/5 easily, especially if the side characters got a few more PoV chapters. As is? A 4/5, leaning 4.5/5, and with my sincere appreciation for the overall quality of the writing and worldbuilding. - CielineriRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The word craft is good, grammar, etc, I have no issues.
However, Levi is not a likable guy at all. He's supposed to be an "everyman" but he insults everyone else for no reason. Especially Kai. We're supposed to see Kai as an edgy bully, but Kai barely does anything to merit Levi's treatment of him. - phobos15Royal Road★★★ 2.5I enjoyed the previous story Levi was in, however, I don't think Levi works in this story and setting. Dropping it as I am not enjoying it.
I think the foundation and world building is interesting though, and if it read less like an obnoxious Mary Sue fic, I would have much preferred it. Alas, Levi is Levi, except here he has absolutely no reason to be as cocky and snarky as he was in the previous story, so it just sort of feels flat and wrong and silly to me.
Sorry for the kinda harsh review - Littleking77Royal Road★★ 2.0The main character Levi is a dick to everyone. The first think he does is insult the prince and then continues to just insult the people around him. The grand mage, lazy because he isn't on the front lines, the hero, snobby because he is excited about the experience, the prince, he just makes fun of him because he is a child in a position of power. The constant swearing and negativity turn me off in the first chapter. Maybe it gets better but I don't like books were I don't like the main character.
