Description
Deadwood meets The Vampire Diaries in this tale of brother versus brother and blood-magic set in a gaslamp fantasy world.
Healer's TouchandWarrior's Touchare available on Amazon Kindle.
Llew has a gift. Her body heals itself from any injury, at a cost to anyone nearby.
Llew’s father disappeared when she was eleven, leaving her orphaned, as far as she knew.
Since then, Llew has learned to survive the streets of the gold-mining town of Cheer – full of opportunistic men and desperation. It’s a hard existence made tougher when Llew's so-called friend accuses her of murder, sending her to the gallows.
Llew’s Aenuk ability to absorb life means she doesn’t stay dead for long, but she does leave a trail of death behind her.
Escaping the hangman’s noose sees Llew fall into the hands of Jonas: the man with the knife and the Karan power to kill Llew’s kind. If Llew can nurture the attraction he develops for her, maybe she can keep that knife from her heart.
But lurking in the shadows is Jonas’s half-brother, Braph: the man who has learned to combine Aenuk and Karan powers into infinite and addictive magical potential.
Healer's Touchis a fantasy novel flavoured with a wild west setting, steampunk-like technology, enough romance to draw you in, horror to keep you hooked, and just enough sex to keep things spicy.

*May count as Romantasy, but the spice is pretty middling. Goes into dark themes, including torture & r*pe, but never between the main couple. The first chapters are brutal, but I had to start Llew off somewhere …

- invoker84Royal Road★★★ 3.0First of all the writing is top notch and most characters are really interesting. Also I tend not to like really dark fiction (never read game of thrones) so keep that in mind for this review. The reason I cannot rate it higher is because It desperately needs the tragedy, Grimdark, and possibly the horror tag. There is no silver lining and reading it just made me depressed and angry at the MC as she was WAY too forgiving for the harsh environment she live in.
She forgives (in a way) her rapist, The woman who helped another character murder her unborn children, and forgives the woman again when she refuses to save her only friend. There is a thing in the story on how they (the people) are necessary but it never really comes through that they actually are.
Otherwise the world building is interesting with the sole exception that the 'war' that is describbed feels more like skirmishes (not big/grand enough).
