Isn't this why we are all on RR?
    Young orphan. Found dragon.  Hijix.
In a time when I think most people are trying to be hyper-meta or niche in the genre, it is somehow comforting to read what feels like a classic.   Like a grown-up Inheritance series with less teen angst.
I can't help but think this is what RR is all about.  A lovingly crafted story that has great pacing, magical items, and stats... Those sweet sweet stats.  GIve this one a read.
    Dragons + LitRPG = GUD

A story full of potential, and above all, fun – we mustn't forget that at the end of the day, novels are meant to entertain, to help us forget about the monotonous and grey life and immerse ourselves in a magical and colorful world. So far, this work accomplishes just that. While only a few secondary characters have been introduced, the ones that have are vibrant and realistic. I hope the author maintains the care and attention while writing this novel, to prevent it from losing its quality over time. If they remain steadfast and consistent, this work will undoubtedly become one of the stars on Royalroad.

I’ve been on RR for 8 yrs now and have never written a review, until now. When I was a boy, I grew up imaging a story like this (without the LITRPG since that basically didn’t exist yet) and I’m not gonna say too much (since I’m only on the 21st chap) but Dad is killing it. Keep up the good work bro!

This story is really well written, and the MC grows up quickly, gaining wisdom and strength from caring mentors, overcoming adversity, and his bonded dragon. The relationships in the story set this one apart. The author was able to make me care about his characters and feel along with them as they dealt with challenges. The fighting and magic are described well, and the world building is well done. I binged this and went straight to his Patreon account for more.

I really like the relationship building between Pammon and Kaen, but I love the relationship between Hess and Kaen. Kaen might not like it being said, but Hess is definitely acting as his father. I just hope the foreshadowing with the ring does not mean that Hess is going to die. I think Kaen has had enough loss in his life, and if getting Pammon winds up getting Hess killed somehow I don't know how you would get over something like that. So far the story has not had too much angst so hopefully Hess won't die. As soon as I finished reading all the available chapters I hit the follow button as I can't wait to read more.

Great story. It follows a young man who finds and bonds a dragon. The story is a little bit coming of age story with classic adventure feels. The litrpg elements are a nice touch. The system is simple but effective. It doesn't clog the story but is still meaningful. I binged this entire story in one day.
Good action. Solid characters. Good story line. I highly recommend. This story should be ranked way higher on this sight. This has the potential to be a great multi book series.
Even though the stories are different it has the feeling of the Hero of the Valley series by Gary Spechko. If you love those books, you'll love this one.

This review is a little jaded because the author of this story is my dad.  It has been really cool seeing him write and tell stories that we can enjoy.
This summer as I prepared to leave for college, my dad still spent time with us (I have five siblings) and then when time presented himself dove into writing this story, telling us about it and how much it was speaking to him.  I watched him pour into the story, ask other authors for help in learning how to make it read better.
I didn’t get to read it because he didn’t want us to read it until it went live.  I finally got a chance to read this story as I sat in my dorm room and college and I am blown away by what my dad has done.  The story is basically something I have enjoyed since childhood.  Dragons!
I love the blooming relationship between Kaen and his dragon, and I feel like sometimes I see the playful moments of my dad.  Those jokes (especially the one in Chapter 2) are things we do all the time (that's what she said).
I closed my eyes after reading his first chapters and I could see the story come to life in my mind. I was able to imagine the excitement of Kaen and the egg hatching before his face.  I imagined my dad’s face multiple times when Hess said or did things to him (especially putting ones face in his armpit, I can smell that scene).
So for me this book is a great reminder of my dad and his love for telling stories to us.  I couldn’t be prouder of what he has written and the writer that he is becoming.

There aren't many novels on this platform that I feel compelled to read the second it posts, but this is one of them. A litrpg with just enough stat boxes to keep you hooked and a story that simultaneously feels like it is a bed time story and an epic adventure all in one. The author is full of passion and will often push out several additional chapters in the presence of a big event. The setting and characters are vibrant and I can't wait to see how they develop in the future. There's some small spelling and Grammer mistakes but not enough to detract from the story. Truly an exceptional story and I'm glad to have been here since the beginning. As book one is wrapping up we're starting to see the seeds of larger conflict and the world at large. There's romance, political intrigue, and good ole fashioned monster bashing. Despite the romance still developing, it seems to be one of the good examples in the format. Honestly though just a fun time through and through and we're only just beginning; strap in folks and enjoy the ride.

Dawn of the Last Dragon Rider is an awesome story, and it fits so nicely into the LitRPG and Progression Fantasy niche. The story and characters are promising, the pacing is quick and focused, and you can tell that there's a lot of love and care built put into things by Dad's Bedtime Stories. Check this out if you're looking for dragons, adventure, or anything in between.
Style: Dawn of the Last Dragon Rider is a relatively fast-paced story that doesn't hesitate or linger on unimportant details. It hits the necessary LitRPG elements, bringing them to light, but it doesn't spam out stat sheets and clog up the narrative with numbers.
Story: It's a boy and his dragon going out and becoming adventurers. What's not to love? But really, Dawn of the Last Dragon Rider is more than that. It's a story of discovery, of challenge and triumph, and of learning who you are and who you want to be.
Grammar: Yeah, not much to say here! Grammar is on point, but there might be one or two typos in a chapter. Old Folks is a writing MACHINE (the dude literally bleeds words), so a mistake here or there is understandable. What you get in exchange is a story that keeps on pumping out chapter after chapter.
Characters: They're all great. The leads are Kaen and his dragon, Pammon, with Hess not far behind, supporting them in a fatherly role. There's personality and depth within them all, and its exciting to see them grow and change.

Let me start by saying how much I appreciate the pacing of this story.  The author does not get bogged down in unnecessary minutiae.  MC needs to grind something that is incredibly uninteresting but obviously important for a realistic growth…well let me just reference that he did it and move on to something more interesting.  To that, I thank you.  I don’t need a full chapter on learning to tie your shoes (hyperbole), just say he did it and then give me a chapter about killing stuff.
The idea behind this story is great.  The promise of being OP and why the MC will be OP is awesome.  Don’t give me some broken system or ridiculous skill, how about something that is classic to fantasy.  Dragons FTW.  Somebody has to have a dragon, so why not the MC.
