Dauntless Midnight

After pulling of a daring attack on a large pirate force, Captain Meisha Al-Jihlani  is upset to discover that she's being retasked from her old cargo ship to take command of a prototype battleship. Her orders are simple; a mining station on the giant Hanaloi has gone silent. It should be an easy mission to break in the newly named Dauntless Midnight, but Meisha and her new crew find that something is not quite right when they arrive in system. The com station above the planet is filled with malfunctioning security robots and a single crazed survivor, and there is no contact with the mining station below.

Trying to investigate more, Meisha and her crew attempt to land on the station only to get blown out of the sky by technology none of them have ever seen before. Meisha, critically wounded, wakes up to meet a strange woman who calls herself Fubuki. A starship scrapper by trade, Fubuki came to Hanaloi to make a deal, and discovered the place abandoned. Together, the two set out to find any of Meisha's survivors and solve the mystery of what has happened to Hanaloi's occupants.

Eventually, Meisha find's some of the remnants of her crew, as well as the answer to her questions. Humanity is not alone in the universe, and their colonization of the galaxy has finally been answered by a more advanced race; theFerronians. Meisha devises a plan to escape the station with her survivors and warn Earth, while discovering that Fubuki may not be exactly what she claims to be. Plans have been set in motion; the galaxy is far bigger than Meisha imagined and there are creatures that will bend the laws of the universe to their will in order to get what they want.
