Description
Sisters Erica and Sarah have never known anything other than Mayflight, their adopted home; a village filled with warmth, a host of lovable animal folk, and a tortoise that’s really quite terrible at painting. That abruptly ends when their adoptive father and his young son are kidnapped by a mysterious group of armed men. In their pursuit, the girls find themselves not only back in the world they originally came from, but directly at odds with it and its strange, warlike inhabitants. Allies are few, enemies are everywhere, and a figure from their past emerges to complicate matters further. The only thing that’s certain, is that if they don’t hurry, there won’t be a home to go back to.
If you like witty dialogue and absurdist humour with more than a touch of heart, Mayflight is always open to tourists. Just whatever you do, don’t stop to talk to the tortoise.

- Mister NobodyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is a whimsical, charming, and delightfully absurd tale filled with quirky characters, clever humor, and a strong sense of heart. The sibling dynamic between Sarah and Erica is wonderfully written, with Sarah’s chaotic ingenuity contrasting perfectly with Erica’s exasperated practicality. The dialogue is witty, the world-building is rich with playful details, and the absurd humor—such as a talking dog baker, an art-obsessed tortoise, and a gang of foul-mouthed mice—adds a unique charm. Beneath the humor, there’s an undercurrent of warmth, responsibility, and familial bonds, making it a thoroughly engaging and endearing read.
- Eva_EverquillRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This story has a really distinct style. You’ll need to read it to understand what I mean. There are a few minor grammar issues, but they feel intentional, almost like part of the author’s unique storytelling voice. The writing leans toward long, complex sentences, which give the story a unique flow. Some readers might love how immersive it feels, while others may prefer something more concise. Either way, it adds to the charm and uniqueness of the writing.
The pacing is on the slower to moderate side, and while I tend to prefer a faster pace, it works here. The buildup gives the characters room to banter, with plenty of moments that’ll make you chuckle at their interactions. The characters are definitely a delight, especially Sarah. Her inquisitive nature makes her an engaging protagonist, and you can absolutely tell she’s an engineer at heart. Her curiosity keeps the story moving in fun, interesting ways, making her interactions feel real and natural. I especially love the gadgets she makes, which add another layer to the story itself.
The sci-fi twist was a great surprise in the plot. If you’re looking for something lighthearted with a touch of comedy, this is definitely worth a read. With its unique writing style, entertaining interactions, and intriguing characters, it’s an overall enjoyable experience. - T. H. There's a spring loaded bed that ejects you through open windows. Bosco Tirren, a baker, blacksmith and dog (who's great at fixing ovens).
But what I liked the most in this story was the construction of some of the sentences, which were littered with fun word play, and interesting word choices.
I've read the eight chapters the author has written so far, and look forward to seeing where the story goes in future.
