- AgasthenesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0In general Charakters are a weakness of royalroad.
Not this story. It thrives by the Charakters and the interaction between them.
It's a great fun, but has pacing issues. In the beginning somewhat slow, later to fast. But all the while entertaining - AlyienRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm going to open this review with two things right off the bat. This novel is fantastic. I'm dropping this novel.
I know this sounds weird, but I'm only dropping this novel because I do not like male harems This might be a little sexist of me but I don't really like harems in general either, I just don't have any interest in reading one with a female lead and a bunch of men.
This said, I must make it absolutely clear that this is a very well done novel from the 40ish chapters I've read, so much so that I was willing to read that long knowing it's direction. Grammar is excellent, characters are extremely well done, and the background lore is very intriguing. I'm very picky with stories and yet I cannot fault this one at all and felt a need to review it.
I highly recommend this novel for anyone who likes this novels genres. You will not be disappointed. - ElentravitraRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Not sure what to say. It was a great read, right up to the end. I liked all of the characters. Was fun watching them grow. Sadly I can't afford the book, so who knows when I'll get to find out how it ends. Even with that, it was still worth my time to read it.
- LezleeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0First of all, I have to confess that the author, Sara King is a favorite of mine. But does that make me biased to her work, or is it simply an indication of just how amazing it is?
Sara's writing style is very unique, in its ability to introduce one character after another, from the character's own perspective.
For this book, the result has the reader rooting for this poor young girl whose upbringing has been full of neglect and shame, but at the same time, laughing at her struggles to make all of that and more into some kind of normal existence.
The reader is introduced to a handful of men who have their own weird problems (like vampirism, an ancient Samurai, or being cursed to exist as a giant mastif dog who talks)-- but each one seems like a nice enough guy, once you get to know him!
The story is fresh, benefiting from unique lore, completely different from any other vampire tale I've ever read. That, coupled with the perspective of a college aged sexual abuse victim, who has just learned she is a vampire queen makes for a great page turner!
Grammar score is perfect for this book! There is nothing I hate more than to be rewriting sentences & trying to unsee people's dangling participles while attempting to enjoy an otherwise great story!
A for the Character category, as I mentioned above, this author is top notch in the character building department. Her stories ar character driven and put the reader right behind the wheel. It's easy to immerse oneself into the unlikely lives of these interesting people! - VoidVoyagerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is actually a good and well written story, by all standards... The characters are believable and relatable... The writing style flows seamlessly... Although am curious with how the story is progressing how will the author pull off the harem tag?
- marsRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Now if you missed the sarcasm in the description you may think this is some kind of femdom themed erotic novel. However very early on you’ll quickly learn this is not the case nor a trashy vampire romance for that matter, rather it is a well crafted (grammatically speaking) romp through a millennials sudden and entirely unwanted circumstances from (re)learning the depravity of her parents to having a samurai from the 13th century with all his ...quirks for want of a better term to say the least dumped on her. So far in all i can say is with a hint of possible romance if the hurdles are overcome and a dash of looming threat this has promise whether in romance, adventure or otherwise.
A very early review-ch7 - margozalizoRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5If you are looking for new friends and are considering platforms like
, it is important to clearly indicate in your profile that you are looking for friendships and to talk about your interests and hobbies to attract like-minded people. Participate in discussions, events or groups if they are available to expand your social circle. However, always be safe, avoid disclosing personal information to strangers and only interact with verified users. This approach will help you find people with common interests and make interactions on the platform - JayQueRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Despite the name making this sound like a bad Japanese porn lit, it has surprising depth and world building. Would recommend
- KarakazzRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I have to agree to @whutama review.. it was great until it started with the vampire lord. I've read till chapter 71 or so and it didn't really get better.
- pithosRoyal Road★★★ 2.5Excellent grammar and technical writing skill; the author's voice carries through and distinguishing the characters from one another is not difficult at all. It's clear the author is working toward a slow build up, slow burn story, ramping up the tension continually, and there's never a point where it feels like the characters are idle and have nothing better to do.
That being said... there is a lot of weird unnecessary racism baked into the story. Or at least, cultural ignorance, which I'm not sure is really any better. Early on we're introduced to a samurai who talks about killing himself and honor and Bushido all of the time, and the story likes to describe his Asian grunts. Shannon has some choice thoughts about those "slanty-eyed" people. There's a lot of sexism as well, with token efforts to demonstrate that it's not a good thing, though usually Shannon is made out to be the impotently overly-emotional woman stereotype in the process of making that point, so I'm not sure it's really very meaningful.
Overall, great writing skills on display, okay if heavily caricaturized characters, interesting and original ideas, an example of a rare romance-intense story with meaningful plot, but this could really do with some proper research and knowledge of the history and cultures the author is writing about. It comes off as ignorant at best and racist at worst.
