- zizawahRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Xianxia slice of life with business focus and typical unavoidable fights. MC is a schemer, pragmatic and cunning. His business acumen translates into fight stratagem well. The villains are somewhat overpowered demonic cultivators and they can be rather annoying but ingenuity and at one point deux ex machina saves the day. Really enjoyable to read and looking forward for more. Fantastic series.
- NegsBetilRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Reminds me of Dao of the Trade
Nice and clear prose
Doesn't drag on
MC isn't likeable though he's kinda a blank right now
Humble and Low Key
Business skills are competent and believable
Mostly sedentary at this point of the story he's managing one shop in the city till now though that is set to change
Can't wait if it explores unique economic situations of a cultivation society like in Calculating Cultivation aka the GOAT - Ordinary_NPCRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This speaks to the political economy nerd in me.
Too often I find myself reading novels with the kingdom-building tag, but it tends to fall flat.
This is pretty fun and honestly cool to see business treated seriously instead of a black box that just spits out cash indefinitely. The fact that the story is about business and money explicitly makes me hopeful that more sophistication is coming.
I really haven't found anything at all like this - and I really appreciate this novel existing. - Shungite2020Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0A great book with interesting elements of slice of Life
Honestly I never thought I would enjoy anything related to this particular genre but somehow this author made it work
Also this is to the rest of the people who thinks that a cultivator novel is not going to involve fights, In what world are you able to peacefully cultivate without fighting to grow or fighting to get resources...
Just because the DAO is mainly about money doesn't mean that there isn't going to be fights, it's a cultivator world for OMFL... - SkyrocketRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really good story with a really thought out arcs, the story hasn't reached any turning points so can't say much but the story itself is exciting , I would say you should try it you won't regret reading this one that's for sure and interaction between people really do feel general unlike in most of the novels
- WhethervainRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have been very pleasantly surprised by this story. The author shows a lot of promise. The world is simple and wide and the characters motivations are pure. They come to life on the page.
The MC is clever, but not so clever as to be OP. The supporting cast create a great amount of simple conflicts that the MC is able to bounce off of.
I hope that Chen Ren does keep working alongside the woman who helped him with the noodle shop, I quite liked her. I hope this story continues for a long while.
Style: the style is simple, I like that it largely follows Chen Rens POV. Every now and then you will bounce to someone elses perspective for a short scene. It is cleverly done and not overdone, it helps build out the world.
Story: Love it. It manages to feel exciting and high stakes while really being about building business, creating an empire.
Character: The characters come alive on the page. I really like the old lady from the tea shop. Chen Rens conflict and partnership with the Tang heir is fascinating to watch.
Grammar: There are some minor grammar issues here and there. Based on the speed of publishing, its nothing that should stop anyone from reading it. - lordnikelasRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a fun read, so far; the MC is smart but not OP, fighting to break out from his predecessor's Very Bad Xianxia Decisions (and a lot of debts.) And there is a cat.
Welcome to the Dao of Noodles, and enjoy your stay.
(There will probably be non-food-based business opportunities down the line, so this isn't always going to be a cooking story, but... mmm, noodles) - waltboyjonesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really enjoy it so far, it isn't groundbreaking when it comes to Isekai Xianxia novels but it is very charming and fun. I am eager to see what happens next in the story, and so far it has been both easy to read and interesting enough for me to keep engaging with it. I know a lot of Xianxia don't really have a lot of mortal-cultivator interactions so I am looking to the implications of that quite a bit.
- AdventuresseRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Let me start by saying I run a business in real life (two if you count writing). I adore the journey of it and was so intrigued by a story that blended that with the world of xianxia!
the style of the story is enticing, with fast paced writing and a cheery tone that makes you want to keep reading.
there were some grammar mistakes I noticed but it is a newer story so that is to be expected—they didn’t take away from my enjoyment at all.
as for the characters, the protagonist Chen Ren is likeable and charismatic, making you want to root for his business success and journey. The side characters we’ve met thus far like the maid Tang Xiulan and the old man tian are multi dimensional and add to the story rather than just being decorative.
The overall story is of a young man transmigrating and working to escape his debts. I am rooting for the underdog and was eager to turn the page and see what he did next to escape his troubles and surprise his rivals!
The xianxia genre is littered with the same old stories of chasing immortality and the heavens, with predictable main characters and boring storylines but this was a breath of fresh air. read Dao of Money! - Eternal SerenityRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book seems to have the potential to be a breath of fresh air for the xianxia genre. I'm really liking the premise so far as of chapter 6, and i like how the protagonist is actually capable of being kind rather than the murderhobo MC's we get in the genre so much. I decided to buy extra's adept mage tier of patreon so i can get advance chapter, though I'm a bit disappointed they aren't already up.
