Description
The world is one of great prosperity and great poverty. Those who ascend and those who are but fuel for others to excel. This is the sacred realm of immortals. This realm is blessed with heavenly chi that cultivators refine within their bodies and souls. The journey into immortality was not without difficulty. From peasant herbalist to slave to immortal and slave again. The world of cultivation is not kind. In the beginning, I did not understand how those with so much could take from those who had so little. I could not see nobility in the immortals whose ranks I had been forced to join. But, even with the avarice and greed of those who stand above, there is also sacrifice. The world of my mortal youth was small. I did not see the threats my world faced. This world is one of many sundered realms. The Calamity, that great war of old, divided us. But, our division is ending, the Convergence is upon us.In my life before, I faced the first wave of the armies of the gods. The daeva. Demi-humans from beyond the Pillar of Creation. In this war, I saw the sacrifice that even immortals will make to protect their world. And yet, all the turmoil of war cannot compare with the terror, in my soul, that comes when constellations fall. The abomination has lost its place in the heavens. It's appetites, insatiable. Without the knight to guard against this cosmic monster, what will happen to my world? And, those I came to love?My name is Rook, and the world I knew was one of poverty and suffering. But now, I have begun again. Regressed through time to the beginning of my immortal life. The path I tread now will not be the one I walked before. My immortal's journey begins anew.[It should also be noted that I will be posting side stories, set in the Cultivating the Constellations universe, in my Legends of the Nexus - Anthology. These stories are non-essential reading for the events of the canon Cultivating the Constellations narrative. And, their primary purpose is to allow me to explore and expand the story in a more organic way. If you find yourself curious, I hope you find them entertaining.]Cultivating the Constellations Book 1https://neobook.org/book/9Ifdgsut/

- luninuRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have to say, this book is a surprise.
First of all, I am someone who doesn't read shorter books, no matter how great they are. This isn't a great habit, but it feels empty to read something that is going to be 'finished' in a few days. But, this novel is truly great and it surprised me how well written it is.
The style is wholesome although there are some downs, the downs are what progress the story and I appreciate them, since the author put them in place to let Rook remember his decision to become a wanderer too.
Story-wise, it is not far, and I am not sure how it will go on. In all honesty, I am not even finished with the chapters there are, but I saw that there was no review and want to heartly reccommend this novel to anyone checking this out to get a better understanding.
I like everything, the pacing which always talks about weeks and months is especially great, like a true story of an immortal and not a cultivator reaching the highest heights in a week. Even though we talk about such great spans, it never feels lacking and one can understand that it is a realistic approach of time.
The only small things I am not sure about is the cultivational system. By chapter 8 it wasn't properly explained yet, we only saw a glimpse of the stage after the formation of the soul core. But from the explanation, it might as well be a quantitative and not qualitative progression. Yet, in all honesty, this story doesn't put heavy emphasis on the facet of cultivation at all, and feels more like the journey of a sage.
Grammatically it is great, I have seen minimal issues and none of them disrupted the word flow. At most it was something like 'as' when there was supposed to be 'at', which I suppose is a mistake that comes from writing fast.
The best, truly, is the character of Rook and how we see him grow. I am feeling very close to him, the first-person is written really well and I can't help wanting to read more. At one point, I just sat outside and enjoyed the sun light as I
