Cultivating Technology In a Magical World is exactly what its title suggests, and I was surprised that the story matched that title so exactly. The writing is strong and the character of Edwin is enjoyable to follow, as he is reborn into a new body, with the mind, experience, and wisdom of an adult. We watch him as an infant, as a toddler, and as he learns about this new world (and new family) that is he is now a part of.
Fascinating and fun concept, with a sure confident writing voice, I enjoyed reading about young Edwin (not so young) growing up and learning about cultivation and magic. Now, a few sections do lean on explaining things, instead of showing them through actions, and I am hopeful that Edwin gets into the action more going forward. But we'll see!
I can say that as I start chapter four, I am intrigued to keep reading and see where this story goes from here! Well done!

Pretty unique take on isekai. I'm excited to see how will an engineer use the properties of magic to invent new things. I do love a good world building and an ingenious way of creating weapons. It's like playing minecraft with all the magic mods. Reminds me of The Irregular at Magic High School, and parody of Harry Potter using guns instead of wands.

I love it! Every chapter filled with several probabilities, every plot oozes with hidden mystery and unfortunately well placed cliffhangers that make this one exciting and worth anticipating. This story is nuts for a first written story. The main character seems like he got a good head on his shoulders and tries to live in the current present life and not the past. He embodies the whole "Past is history, Future is a mystery and the now is a gift so it is called the Present!" thing. Though he probably should be more open with his parents.
So this is called a web novel, but I would not called it a Serial Release as this book has proper chapters with corresponding length to the chapters like normal books. This alone gets you near the top in my books! Add the grammar and proper sentence structures and your at the top 96%. This alone gives you all the leeway and credit I could give you.
The characters are good and each with their own developments. The environments are threshed out and well described. There is also proper dialogs and not the weird stage script crap a lot of other fics go by.
You can live without reading this, but you will live even better after reading this!

This first chapter is impressive considering this is your first ever novel. You introduced the core elements, intriguing world-building, a hint of magic and cultivation, and a strong sense of character motivation, without dumping too much information all at once. I appreciate how you sprinkled details about the setting and hinted at bigger mysteries, all while keeping the focus on your protagonist’s perspective. The pacing feels somewhat balanced considering we are still in the baby phase. Very Mushoku Tensei. There’s enough tension and curiosity to keep me reading, but it’s not rushing through important background.
I also like how you plan on combining those classic Xianxia and Western fantasy tropes with a dash of technological flair. It makes your universe feel fresh, but not unique considering there are also other novels that has there own take on technology uplifting.
That said, this is just the beginning, and I’m eager to see how you build on the themes, expand the magic system, and dive deeper into the characters’ personalities in the upcoming chapters.
For now, color me impressed. You’ve got my attention, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing where this story goes. I’ll update my thoughts as more chapters roll out!

I like the take on a mature and child protagonist. You can get to experience their journey from the beginning where they try to figure out how to be strong and gain their skills. Like an RPG, slowly grinding your level. I wonder what the world outside the castle is.
Maybe it's a little too early, but I'm really interested if little Gideon would become the protagonist's rival. He has the potential to be one. Or even became the big bad in the end. IT'S OVER ANAKIN! I HAVE THE HIGH GROUND!
The story seems pretty tame, like slice of life. Glad that the protagonist is not a perverted NEET that'll start a religion based on someone's panty.
Reminds me of The Irregular at Magic High School. Mages casting spells while kid got a glock! BANG!
I love the TIAMHS anime, I hope Edwin can make a real gun rather than a musket. I can imagine a scenario like Indiana Jones shooting a guy in a supposedly sword fight. A mage casting a long spell, a spell so powerful that can kill anyone in the blast radius only to be shot by sniper rifle. A sniper rifle imbued with magic.

I write this review tentatively, because if I have nothing good to say I don't really want to say it, and I have a lot to harp on from just the first few chapters.
But at the same time, there are good things about this story, it's just I can't exactly get invested into them with the issues I've noted insofar.
getting these two things right off the bat, the style and the story are both fine, and the prose is fine for somebodies first project.
Moving on to what actually matters, the story is kicked into gear right off the bat. There is ZERO build up, which is both a good and very very bad thing. The plot is starts building up in basically the first 5k words, so if you're looking for purely strife, you'll find it with ease in this story.
My issue with that is that like I said, there is NO build up. At all. There isn't much characterization for anybody, not even much for the MC himself. In the first chapter, it zips past like three separate issues each with just about 1k words to their name, and in the process it just feels like a blurb telling you what the story is about without actually elaborating on any of the integral parts.
They've got all the building blocks that you'd come to expect from similar stories, and put a somewhat unique spin on it, but don't have any of the glue you want to stick the pieces together with, If that makes sense.
We don't get any of the MCs parents hobbies, their friends, their interactions with the kid outside of work matters, just that time passes, and that things happen.
It's very empty. But at the same time, this is just my impression from the first few chapters. It's very possible that they're simply forgoing this for now to elaborate on it later, and at the same time I'm sure some people would probably enjoy this style, but I'm not much of a fan. I need more than the meat to sink my teeth into, let me pick the bone clean.
I'd give it a try, but if what I've said rings true to you within the first few chapters this may not be for you.

Overall: Good. The plot follows through on the premise. Consistent descriptions and reasonable actions taken by characters responding to the actions of others and the environment of the story.
Style: Classic isekai/reincarnation progression. The mix of cultivation and magic so far has been enjoyable to read. Technology has been alluded to but not explored fully yet. Some humor and commiseration over being young and unable to do the things you want is appreciated and sensibly paced.
Story: The Progression of the story follows a logical process of slow power creep. Major motivation of the MC is simple in the first few chapters: I want to become more powerful. The last chapter read has the MC exploring the ramifications of introducing his innovations to the wider world. Good potential, but needs more exploration of what the MC's driving force is.
Grammar: Few, if any, mistakes are noticeable. Well done
Character: This is well done with dialogue and actions reflecting a growing personality of the MC, Edwin, and his friend, Gideon. Other characters have some basic fleshing out performed, but no details beyond typical roles found in most stories. The lord and lady take actions typical of people in their position, and other supporting characters are the same. The interaction between Lord Aldric and the unnamed old man in chapter 3 feels a bit clunky and forced due to not knowing or understanding who the old man is and what his role is beyond being the old magic guy.

The story follows the tale of a reincarnator- though one who's already experienced a world of cultivation from before prior to getting transported into the body of an infant in another world. The story starts out by following the usual beats of a child slowly discovering the world around them, and learning about magic, an adventurer's guild, etc. But trouble is also clearly brewing on the horizon, with a neighboring empire plotting secret bandit raids in the kingdom.
On top of which, our protag, manages to actual start cultivating like he could in his past life, despite not having a lick of magic as per this world. They story follows his adventure as he cultivates, hides his cultivation, and trains to thrive in this new world he's found himself in.
Grammar: I couldn't find any major mistakes or anything that would detract from the reading experience, grammar is fine.
Story: The story is well-paced without infodumping like some of them do.
Style: Proper and adequate, no complaints here.
Characters: They are slightly based on established archetypes, but they also stand out on their own as well. The standouts here are the mage assigned to the castle, and our MC's best friend up till now.
