Description

After a malevolent spell intended to turn her into an animal goes awry, Cherry finds herself stuck as a plush toy. She now has to cooperate with the warlock that tried to transform her in the first place as her latent magic goes out of control and starts to change the warlock in unexpected ways.

Cuddle & Monster is a wonderful story with focus on solid characters and their further development, I'm writing this review as someone with privilege to see all that the author has written.

The relationship that forms between Cherry and The Warlock through continued interaction is a delight, especially at the later stages, and it gives us Cherry's biggest conundrum: Her abilities that change The Warlock are changing him for the better, but still changing him, and for some that could be seen as murder and execution. Thus, Cherry faces the guilt of making The Warlock into a better person, but in the process in a way killing what made The Warlock The Warlock, even if The Warlock was undoubtedly an evil man turning people into animals.
I cannot wait to see the conclusion of this story, and for everyone else to join me once it does. But, not to worry, we have 14 chapters to see as I write this, and the later ones are adorable.

I've finished reading this story on scribblehub*dot*com and it was enough of push for me to leave review here. T'was a crazy ride. And t'was fun. ^_^
I'd never say it's The Best Story in the world, but I liked start and middle of this story. Magic has this very taste of being... really magical, I guess. For example, in first chapter, warlock is not spamming fireballs, he permanently turns attacking soldiers into mindless animals. That's one axis along which movements are easy in this setting, and it forebodingly foreshadows, expands and ties to events to come.
Story is relatively short, but focused. For me it was interesting to see collision of two persons. And all what ifs and pussyfooting around problem of identity murder. There's something cyberpunkish and philosophical among questions that it evokes in your mind.
There are some mild and tame splashes of LGBT propaganda here and there but they emerge organically from events, and do not seem unnatural. Due to this, I had no problems with those (otherwise I might have been triggered - because oh how it makes me want to facepalm and rant and roar and troll when somebody starts to claim from one's high horse how one's philosophy is best... and usually anti-conservative propaganda tends to be hyped and full of lies).

One thing I disagree with POV of characters is how a certain character pushes for idea about how law enforcement officers should be always be kind to suspects and use kinder methods. That's a horrible idea. Criminals and suspects are people, human beings, yes, but while humans can be nice, they can also be painfully HORRIBLE. You can't stop domineering, self-centered. jealous, greedy, egoistical, backstabber by using on him kind tools, kind words. When criminal or person makes a choice and commits to a lifestyle where yes he chose to hurt others to burn their lifes to warm himself up - that's a turning point where stopping him from committing things that hurt other peop
