I have seen this trope before, but not in this way.
(This spoiler pertains to stuff in the first book)
Having the post-apocalyptic 'outside' be a hard to reach place within the game is a very engaging concept that has been excecuted perfectly
I also really like the interaction between the players (both main and not) and that not all the people are just automatically nice to the main group and there are giant obsticles that are progerssing as the books pass, but still aren't resolved (Which makes sense seeing how big they are).

I really enjoyed this book. It was a perfect balance of a good story with a fun filled and suspensful plot an the roots of fantasy games out there. This is the forth book/series I've read this specific type of book. This includes The Land by Aleron Kong, The Greenwood Chronicles and The Eternal wich I am almost done with. This, so far is the best I have read like this. It kept me up until 12:30 because I knew I HAD to finish this book, I really enjoyed it

A top tier series where being overpowered is still barely enough to survive both in the game and in real life.
The characters are likeable and feel real as any living person you know.  The plot is intensely compelling. The world building is next level, there's multiple worlds and multiple layers to each world.
Each book is exponentially better than the book that came before. Some of the most intriguing concepts and mysteries. The underground world. The game. The surface world. The magic. The nanites. It's all extremely well done. If I could jump into a series in the LitRPG genre, it would be this one.
The only downside is how addicting the story is. Like crack, one you start, you will crave more and more. Don't be shy, we all need to ping the author to finish this amazing story.

I really just want to die at this point. I wrote a long, nice review, and apparently when I logged in to post it, it deleted. So have a shorter, summed up version of this. I’m terrible at writing reviews anyway. Sorry it’s short, I’m just really lazy and would prefer not to retype the paragraphs I made.
    Characters
The characters are well thought out and put together nicely. Their backstories are great as well, and as Funk said, (sorry for chopping your name), feel professional.
    Grammar
The grammar is on point, with little to no errors.
    Plot/Style/Pace
The plot I think, flows well, with so far, no major plot holes and things like that.  Good pace, maybe a tiny bit faster than average, with, maybe it’s just my opinion, perhaps the leveling a bit too easy? It seems as even though he’s grinding for a long while with harder and harder monsters, and having this op? class, he just keeps going up and up, even at higher levels. I get the whole thing on why he’s going so hard and such, but still. Maybe it’s just me, so you can possibly disregard everything I just wrote. Good release times, which balances out the chapters slightly on the shorter end, which makes me want more.
Overall, fantastic story. The story has as of Chapter 30, has been very interesting and well written. Worth a read. Also, first page! That should bring a lot more attention to this. Imma just crawl back into my hole now. Bai.

I’m really loving this story and am really interested to see where it is going.
Characters pull me in, and there is enough happening in the background to leave you in suspense.
    Keep it coming!

A constant sense of anticipation and a rapid pace. The Crystal Shards serues is action and heart. What's going on behind the game?

This is one of the better works in the genre, practically required reading in my opinion.  Well worth the money.  I can't WAIT for book 4 to start, though I'd prefer if the ending were a little less cliffhangery...  knowing that the continuation will be in the next book and how writers tend to write what is likely to happen I doubt the 4th book will conclude the current antagonist's arc in the beginning, meaning a much longer wait for that enjoyment.
