Description
Lin Songmei is poor. Getting dropped off at the doorstep of an orphanage while she was a baby—the classic baby in the basket situation—she didn’t have much of a childhood, and spent most of her days doing schoolwork or reading in the library.
However, in a world where modern society is intertwined with cultivators that have lived for as long as anyone remembers, everyone’s life has a chance to turn around at the aptitude tests held at 16 years old.
So, when Songmei goes into the aptitude tests crossing her fingers and hoping for a smidge of talent, just enough to get her a comfy home and a stable future, but finds out she has more talent than she could ever imagine... what next? Dream of a bigger house?
'And why does the second child of a super rich family clan keep showing up? Her family has enough influence to move nations... So why is she hanging out in my room?'

- TinderoxRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A cute romance story that takes place in a modernized cultivation world, and also subverts a lot of the common tropes of the genre. It is a great story for those looking for something different in the cultivation genre.
Really enjoyed the full first book, and am looking forward to when the author starts the next one. - LuteaRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I was a little confused when I saw this update cause it's finished on another site ^^,
I'm any case, if I had to boil down my thoughts on CC into a short sentence it would be "A decent start, that the author just never does anything with."
It's like the author planned for a long series, sets up an overarching plot, and then gives up and moves on after the end of the first arc.
The writing itself is decent, I like the characters and the plot itself is fine...and then nothing happens. Just a bit of a shame yeah?
It's not that it's bad though, you can get plenty just from the main characters being cute together. And for what it's worth, that relationship is written just fine with what little the author wrote in the end.
Just don't expect much from the overarching plot. - sioxRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5The story & the world seems quite interesting in broad strokes, and the relationships between characters is refreshingly modern for a xianxia.
Unfortunately, the style of the author is like watching a sitcom with the laugh track removed. A meta joke after every frikkin sentence and waiting for us to laugh before continuing the story. It made it so I could not get absorbed into the story and just fell out of it even with my interest in how the power system evolves in the future.
Saying "they made some small talk" all over the place is also an atrocious way to write that I wouldnt expect from anyone after high school. It just takes you out of it when you have no idea what that means in the context. The MC's internal commentary is also quite repetitive and too meta for her supposed upbringing.
