- ghost_of_hotsauseRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The dungeon is for obvious reasons coreless it however is often only a side thought most of the time, as the actual dungeon creation and machinations happening in the dark are the real driving forces of the story. It became a bit confusing on what was happening but everything is given a reason or expiration on why things happen even if we aren’t deep enough into the story for the full picture. Anyway I love it I want to read more and I will be.
- GorrionRojoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0After reading many dungeon stories, it's difficult to find fresh approaches. Here, the author simply removes the core from the dungeon core story. This confuses and pisses off the local aventurers and gods. All their dungeon-conquering are suddenly not working at all.
Meanwhile, the dungeon just keeps experimenting innocently, and creating even bigger messes because he lacks any point of reference to the local culture and levels of power.
You can tell that the author is having fun writing it. I am just hoping he has planned a bit of a path ahead and doesn't write himself into a corner. - MozgovedRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The book is self aware irony and attempts at comedy. Every chapter the MC gets to know something about the world the system amd magic , and every time he comes up with some crazy inexplicable details. The author just adds mystery everywhere to make things even more confusing.
In the end we have no idea what's happening and why and how it all works, to hell with logic, the dungeon isnjust having some fun.
Grammar is okeish, writing style is not perfect and sometimes hard to read. A lot is left to be desired here. But it is manageable.
The books lacks any meaningful plot , world or idea or even characters. it's just a hilarious nonsensical comic book of a life of a dungeon MC. - NogardnoirRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Not a lot of chapter yet but I really like how it is going for now. The MC is fun to read about how he is building his dungeon levels and thinking, the system based story part is refreshing from the usual way it's normally used. Take a read ! It is a nice little one. :)
- SyntheticAberrationRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Too lazy to be detailed, it's a good story, give it a try. I like dungeon core stories so I'm probably biased but yea...I only wish there were more chapters for me to binge read. Hopefully author can mass release around 500 chapters so we don't have to wait. It'll take a sacrifice on their part but it'll be worth it for our enjoyment.
- CmndprmptRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I was skeptical at first, not knowing how interesting or fun this story would be. As I kept reading, however, I became totally invested. So much so, that I was heavily saddened when I caught up to current release. I didn't read any comments or reviews and just went off the description of the story given from a promotion ad in one of TheDeliciousMeats stories (MMCM).
This story has a very unique view point. It's first person, with the MC being a dungeon. As the story progresses, you get more understanding about the world and the magics in said world. New characters get introduced from outside The Dungeon (the MC), and also get created within, as the MC strives to build a fun, exciting, challenging, and unique dungeon for people to explore.
So far, I have very few complaints about this story. My favorite parts are when MC creates something new and I get as excited by it as they do. I also love it when his designs get tested by the adventurers coming to tackle the dungeon.
My only two complaints so far are this:
There are a few spelling errors here and there, or odd ordering of words.(i.e. a word coming before or after another when it shouldn't.) It's not very often so it's not such a big deal (hence the 4.5 stars for grammar.)
(This one is totally personal and doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the story all that much.) I'm not a huge fan of when the pov cuts to another character when the MC isn't present. It's done well enough and doesn't give away too many things that it isn't a huge issue for me. And I wouldn't ask for them to stop either, just that the author keeps the trend of the information given not to be too much. I like learning about the setting and people at the same time the MC does.
Like I said, overall, a really great story. I'm excited for every new chapter realese and will continue to be sad when I finish said chapter. - XipheonRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This story skips all the pre-amble and nonsense of setting up a dungeon core novel and jumps right to the dungeon building. It takes that approach to everything else as well, just right to the good parts.
If you haven't read a dungeon core novel before you'll be hopelessly lost, but then how did you find this novel? For the rest of us this is peak dungeon core shenanigans and a must read for everyone that enjoys dungeon core stories.
1/2 a star off for the abrupt start with no context. The world building doesn't even start until after he already has his 1st floor built, until then you're wondering who he's building the dungeon for, what the rules of this world are, etc. - GLMRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5The start is genuinely charming and a different and fun take on dungeon core stories.
The bits where the MC is making floors and developing his dungeon from the ground up are very good, and the early worldbuilding and hints of some larger things lurking in the background were interesting.
Problem is those hints at the larger overarching plot in background came IMMEDIATLY into the forefront of the story, and every other chapter now has the MC consistently getting mind wiped cus he stumbled into something he shouldn't and messing about with reality altering runes and a System while gods and demons avatars appear every other chapter, WHILE THE MC IS STILL FLESHING OUT HIS SECOND AND THIRD FLOOR, and has overall very very convoluted storytelling because of all the bullshit coming out of left field and the actual entertaining dungeon stuff falls by the wayside and becomes convoluted itself because of eveything around it.
To me it feels like the author lacked restraint and patience to actually go through with his ideas, probably by wanting to make his dungeon story different from the multitude of other dungeon stories, but he forewent the things that made these kinds of stories good in the first place by rushing to his "unique twist" on the genre.
To be honest I dont have a problem with the plot, I think the ideas employed here are kinda neat and have potential, the storytelling and prose are quite good too.
But past chapter 10 or so it feels like the author tried to shove a plotline that should have been introduced and built up on across 100 chapter into 10 chapters, while the story has not had time to even stretch its legs.
Its left me and most readers in a state of "What the hell is this shit? Where charming dungeon building?" - JK19368Royal Road★★★★ 3.5It begun with the MC doing dungeon things; monsters, loot, floors.
If it stuck with this and didn't touch onto the system and demon multiverse plot until chapter 60 after the dungeon had more than 3 floors and had interacted with the surface races more, I'd give a higher rating. - EnthernalRoyal Road★★★ 3.0As the title says, the story starts well and creates an interesting spin on the common dungeon theme. The problem start from around chapter 10, when the author starts introducing things very quickly. These changes create a plot change, then 3-5 sentences later there's "a plot armour time reversal" and it continues down the normal path. By chapter 20 it happens pretty much every other chapter if not more and that killed this story for me.
