After aggravating the lord under which he serves, Hugh has to flee his lifelong home. But a rogue Chromancer can only do so much to hide, and there are plans made by forces beyond his control in which he plays an unwilling, unknowing part. Forces not of darkness; rather colourful ones instead.

The key to Chromancy is control, but emotions are a famously difficult target. And when war and politics surround you, this difficult endeavour becomes seemingly impossible. Yet, Hugh has to go up against a ruler with near-perfect mastery of this exact subject. So what it there to do, but learn ?
