Description

FAR BEYOND THEstarlight of the gods, and the vaulting heavens of life everlasting, the damned and forgotten rot in the ruins of a broken, corrupt dream of of darkness and suffering. Winged horrors prowl the warrens, feasting on those brave or foolish enough to try and escape… and in the dreamless depths below, things so ancient even the gods have forgotten their names lie slumbering.

In Hell, one survives by blood and iron, or dies and dies again, until their very soul fades. The Faded stalk the lightless halls: those for who have died so often they’ve forgotten all they ever were. It is said that from these meager wretches will be born a new power, a soul of cinder, who will possess the skills and power to rival even the Old Death himself.

Hell will offer the Cinderborn no favors. And it isn’t the daggered paths and legions of the damned that are the true test…it is the cold, crushing isolation of the infernal pit itself, gnawing at every lingering soul. It would be so easy to give up, to drown in oblivion. To fade.

But they say it’s better to reign in Hell, than serve in Heaven…

I'm absolutely rambling but if you haven't read the Trials, prepare to be immersed in a melody of words. Knight's style is literary, the grammar 100% and my worst complaint was a common one. (See any review wishing for a longer story.)
Finally, Cinders is the end of that! And my previously empty dreams of a souls series. Just on that story foundation I'm addicted!
Told in the first person, the familiar character of the soul may not be for everyone. But let's hope, whatever the chapters length, we can continue the epic pace.
It really feels amazing to get a review in this early on such quality work. Again, if you know the authour or read the blurb, read a chapter and you'll know exactly what I mean.
I'll probably update/Advanced Review in a couple months, brb reading
(It's really good and keeps getting better, disregard the chapter it says I'm up to because I had to create an accoun)

I've been eagerly looking for a well-written dark fantasy litrpg for a while now! The prose so far is really good and captivating - strong voice and vivid worldbuilding from the get-go. Can't wait to see how the rpg rule-set/system of the story is introduced and integrated. Great stuff so far. So keen to keep reading. Let's gooo!
