- AlwelaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Love the story! Had me hooked from the start. The leveling system, with different evolutions is amazing and I love that they get different choices depending on the core they have.
I’ve learned more about ants from this novel than through the rest of my 28 years!
All the best!! - Daoist_MattRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I was like most at first, skeptical. An ant? As an MC? I guess I will try it. Am I sure glad that I did. This has become my faviorte WN and I plan on reading it till the end. Anyone who is trying to figure out if they want to read it, just read it. I promise it's 100% worth your time. RinoZ is a great writer, and an amazing story builder. You wont be disappointed!
- LabooooonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Hi there,
I've been reading Chrysalis for quite some time now and I believe I can give a fair and honest review based on this.
At the beginning, a few years ago now, I did not immediately 'match' with the story. I loved the concept of an Ant main character which was the reason to start reading. Once I read a few chapters, I quickly fell in love with both the story and the author's way of making it come to life.
Anthony has brought me on a journey through different stages of his life, and with it has shown me the world. The way the story and the characters within shape the world is perhaps the most wonderful of all novels and stories I have read so far.
Anthony's world starts small, but as he grows so does the world around him. He shows us that the world isn't black and white, even while a lot of other characters in this novel seem to think so. Monsters can be human while some humans might be worse than monsters. Disaster is part of life but that doesn't mean that there is nothing you can do. If you can't win a fight on your own, seek allies and tackle the problem from different angles.
This might sound a bit vague to some, but I strongly believe that Chrysalis gives a clear view of our lives in the real world. The good and the bad about our current ways of life. How we as Humans could improve not just our own lives, but that of the Earth as a whole. That some times we should use our brains more to think things through while others we just need to use our hands and work hard. We are all part of this world, and we should work together instead of letting it all fade a way. After all, we are one big family.
During the progress of this story I have laughed and I have cried, but I enjoyed every moment of it. This truly is a gem and it is my opinion that we should treasure it and RinoZ who has, and still is, taking much of their time to bring the Colony's many joys to us.
If you have read this far through my review, I thank you and have just one more thing to say.
Thank yo - LupasaerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love Anthony, he’s just the right amounts of silly, caring and ambitious. Gets you rooting for his success from the first page. A good non-human main character can be really hard to pull off well but RinoZ does it perfectly! And the surrounding cast are all very well fleshed out with distinct personalities. FOR THE COLONY!!!
- MazuiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0You ever get tired of those isekai where MC only stays monstrous for a handful of first chapters and then immediately acquires some sort of humanoid form?
I do, this one is proper monster isekai through and throuhg, something that is absurdly rare even today, even considering vast number of novels in this genre.
For a story like this - I find no issue neither with plot, nor with character development or pacing.
Just the kind of light fantasy isekai read I often crave. - MonstablazeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Since this is my first book , I'm not sure about giving other readers a good review but I will be honest, I started slow at first but I just couldn't get away from it ,every chapter brought new interesting things that I wouldn't have any idea about at first and it kept me reeled in. Awesome work this and credit to the author.
- VNBOYRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Over 1000 chapters and I found out I haven't review this fiction, which I thought I would be ages ago. Coz Chrysalis is definitely my top 1 fiction on this site! Overall, the story is decent. The world building is truly unique and beautifully described. The characters are somewhat simple but lovely. I mean, who wouldn't love a million of selfless and bloodthirsty and mother-loving monstrous ants?
The story become a little repitive in some points, but as it uncover more mysteries and rich dungeon world-building, that can pass to me.
Anyway, FOR THE COLONYYYYYYY!!!! - WPaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0My god. I never knew I could have such a strong emotional connection with an ant. The battles are incredible. You really feel a connection with blank and his hive. When they win, you feel the adulation and victory. When they lose—you don’t feel nothin’ cause they never lose. I love the battles that go on for hundreds of thousands of words. You really get a sense that all these fights are leading somewhere, like water swirling a drain. I never understood the true potential of a LITRPG before reading this story. There’s just so much to talk about. Like, I love the battles that go on for hundreds of thousands of words. You really get a sense that all these fights are leading somewhere, like water swirling a drain. The futa characters are a little much and the humor can get a bit mean spirited but overall it’s an incredibly rich, entertaining faire. You really get a sense that all these fights are leading somewhere, like water swirling a drain. It’s also totally realistic. Like a person turning into an ant wouldn’t retain any humanity or aspects of his previous personality that made him an ant. He’s just, like, an ant, and that’s okay.
- kromeknightRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This series really brings its world and characters to life! Though it does have some small spelling and editing issues, this should be expected with a self published title, even then they are rare and swiftly corrected when found. Thanks to the author's continuous interactions with his fan base, this long series seems to have stayed relatively free plot holes and the like. To anyone not reading Chrysalis, I have to say, why?
- lithit0Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5I'll try to keep this short.
Chrysalis is a pretty interesting transmigration novel that manages to elude any of my attempts to rate it. It starts off with a distinctly Japanese light novel feel*, before branching off into a somewhat unique tale of a giant monster ants rise to power.
Having binge read all 482 or so pages already released of it, I fail to put into words what kept me from dropping this novel to go to bed.
The plot while interesting, often comes off as decidedly average. The first-person presentation of the novel leaves us rooming with Anthony, a roommate partial to bouts of rampant annoyance. And whilst not rife with them, the novel does have it's fair share of spelling and grammar errors (not anything immersion breaking, mind you)
And yet, there's just something charming about this novel I can't quite put into words. Almost like a younger sibling, you're left unable to ignore its frequent and annoying faults, but something about the way it all comes together just leaves you smiling with a warm feeling in your heart.
Chrysalis. the tale of Anthony the ant. It's not going to win any awards, but it's an interesting read I wholeheartedly recommend you give a try
...
Just be a little patient with the first few chapters, those honestly are a bit of a slog, even on a second pass.
