***BOOKS FOUR AND FIVE WILL BE STUBBING DECEMBER 1, 2025***

“This isn’t a game anymore! These characters we created when we were kids somehow became living, sentient people, and we’ve got to figure out how to get them back home!”

Choice, Chance, and Consequence was the TTRPG that forged Nick, Derek, Rafael, Alejandra, and Evelyn’s friendship when they were younger. But the real world is different, and friendships dissolve. Right before their senior year, they attempt one last session that falls apart, leading to the death of everyone’s characters.

They thought that was it until their characters from the game showed up in the real world. Their arrival brought a million questions and fears. As though their senior year couldn’t get any harder, they stumbled on an unexpected undertaking. Make sure no one else followed them from the game.

What to expect:

Reverse Isekai—We are not going to the fantasy world; the fantasy world is coming to us.

Team Litrpg—Five different classes work to get stronger together with progress and levels.

Turn-based combat—Works with some fantastical elements.

Action and character–There will be battles, and there will be times the characters relax and get familiar with the modern world.

Romance—As a side plot. No harem.

This story takes inspiration from Dungeons and Dragons, Jumanji ('95 version), and Digimon. Those sensitivity tags are there, but I guarantee this story won't get as dark as The Warrior (IYKYK).

Posting Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

    Story:
Like the title, it was a page turner, and I blazed through it. The start eases you in with the exploration of characters, witty banters, and then smashes you with the twist when things are fleshed out, really nicely done. And good job on the setup of the game; I wish I could eat that salsa too while I was reading this. Had no complaints, and the fans of the genre will love this.
    Style:
The writing was vivid with a really good amount of touch on the details. I'm a fan of such work where authors go the extra miles to work on the details, however minor they might be, so I really liked seeing that here. Really nice descriptive writing too, the world came alive along with the characters. Another thumbs up.
    Grammar:
There was no glaring issue apart from minor typos here and there which could easily be fixed from a proof read and reader's edit suggestions, which the author was quite receptive of. Good job again.
    Character:
I would say this is the strongest point of the book, the depth and the details of the characters. Through their dialogues, they all felt alive. And I really liked how the characters had their own personality.
    Overall, a solid 5/5.

It was fun reading a tabletop story done this way!
Very well-written Characters. Nick and Derek's banter is like a comfy couch you sink into after a long day – it just feels right. You can practically smell the pizza and hear the dice rolling. And yeah, even the struggle to sync up schedules feels oddly relatable, like you're part of the gang trying to coordinate your next adventure over group chat. Too bad things never go according to plan though.
But what hooks you is the tabletop aspect. The way they describe the scenes and actions is so vivid, it's like watching a movie in your mind. Even the frustration over their dice rolls can be felt.
After the big reveal, I'm left wondering how they are going to continue the session and campaign. And the pacing? Smooth as butter. There's never a dull moment, but they also know when to slow down and let the tension simmer.
But let's not forget about the dialogue. It's like they've got a script doctor hiding in their DM screen. Every word feels natural, every joke lands perfectly. It's the kind of banter you wish you had with your crew.
In short, Whether you're a seasoned D&D player or just dipping your toes in, you'll find yourself drawn into their world from the get-go. Can't wait to see where they take us next!

Two dudes are trying to finish the final boss of the tabletop campaign they've been playing, along with others, for years. And then things get weird.
I have quite limited experience with the genre/s this story tackles, but this one has much more patience than other such stories I've checked out. It takes its time introducing us to the real-world (fictional real world, that is) characters, their situation and history, and just how much the game means to them, and how much they've poured into it over the years. So they, one in particular, actually feel like they would get deeply invested in living an actual game world.
Buildup is good; it hints at a story with something to it. And the characters are entertaining enough that it holds my interest without anything spectacular taking place yet.
I didn't spot a single error. The characters take like regular people. The narration itself didn't wow me, but there's nothing wrong with it either: Just a normal narrative voice.
For the portion I've read so far, only two characters get any real limelight, but they're likeable enough. Two dudes who have been friends for ages, and it shows. And they're dealing with the gradual disintegration of their pen-and-paper rpg group. Which... I can relate to. So bonus points there.

I want to start by saying I love the reverse isekai concept. It's such a cool idea, and this story pulls it off so well that it really makes me want to read more of it.
    Style
The writing is excellent, with prose that is carefully chosen and most importantly, fits the scenes perfectly. The story boasts dialogue that flows smoothly between characters, each with their distinct tones and voices, making it effortless and enjoyable to read. It’s technically superb.
    Story
The reverse isekai concept is a really fun one, and this one pulls it off really well. Using D&D characters is an innovative concept that hasn't been done very much, but this story does a great job of taking its time to add depth to the world, environment, character relationships, and personalities, making it a really engaging read.
    Grammar
No issues at all, it's easy to read with nothing to distract from the story.
    Characters
This is the story's strongest asset. All the characters are really well done, have depth, and real personalities that you can laugh and empathise with. I would also like to pay tribute to the dialogue, which is brilliantly written and fits each of the characters' established personalities well and consistently. This is really hard to do, so great work with this.
    Overall
I really enjoyed this story. I have favorited and followed it as I am excited to see where this goes. Highly recommended!

The first thing that caught my attention after reading the first chapter was how well the characters were fleshed out. Their personality and interaction really made me believe this happened in real life. Really well done.
Grammar: I didn't notice anything that would break immersion, the author clearly spent time with editing, and making sure the chapters were as polish as possible.
Story: I haven't read a reverse Isekai before, so this experience was unique and kinda give me inspiration to write a story like this as well. I haven't read much to talk about world building, so I'll just leave it at that.
Style: the story is written in the third person pov which is my favorite. The author clearly knows how to write clean story with amazing prose that get you to the point, and paint a vivid images of what is happening.
Characters: this is where the story truly shine. The interaction between the characters felt real as everyone had their own personality and unique voice. I don't know if the author came up with these characters on his own or took inspiration from his friends, but they just felt too real.
Overall, I really enjoyed the story and it's unique concept. Recommend reading it.

Were you the Nick or the Derek in your gaming group? Tag yourself!
Choice, Chance, and Consequence is the kind of unique story that really shows the possibilities of web serials. It's part coming-of-age story, part inversion of an Isekai story, and a rollicking fantasy romp. Duffer Brothers level of nostalgia going on over here.
Grammar -- Clean writing! Never had any issues with this.
Style -- There are a lot of characters and concepts to introduce here, and while the names (players and their characters, plus some sexy ice daddies and overbearing normie daddies) can be a bit overwhelming at first, the author does a nice job of keeping it all straight. Very pacey with authentic dialogue.
Characters -- This is where the book really shines. The real world characters feel like people I've hung out with and their creations do a nice job of reflecting them. Can't wait to see what happens as our players come to grips with their characters. There's so much room to explore here and the author does well with digging into emotions while never ignoring an opportunity for a wisecrack.
Story -- You're going to want to keep clicking 'next chapter.' The dramas are very human -- like outgrowing your friends or needing to get away from your family -- but the plot is still propulsive, and I get the feeling there are bigger things on the horizon.
Stay out of dice jail! Give this a read.

    Review Swap at Chapter 9
Style/Grammar - I had no problems understanding the story as it was presented. Switching between Derek's and Nick's perspectives didn't feel like a distraction, and it felt natural, especially given how varied they are as fleshed-out characters. I didn't notice any grammatical mistakes that took me out of my immersion.
Character - If I could rate this 6/5 I would. Derek and Nick feel like people I've met in real life, and their banter with each other feels realistic. The protagonists playing their (legally distinct) D&D game also felt authentic, especially for those who have had to pull double duty on playing characters. Moving to individual protagonists, I really enjoyed Nick's characterization. His relationship with his father feels disturbingly realistic, and it made me want to root for Nick to get himself into a better situation or at least have a better standard of living at home. The dynamic between these characters: Derek, Nick, and Evelyn — feels fleshed out and believable as longtime friends in Derek and Nick's case and siblings in Nick and Evelyn's case. I'm definitely interested in learning more about the more fractured relationship between Nick, Derek, and Rafael.
Story - I definitely enjoyed the slower opening to the story instead of just suddenly thrusting the protagonists' CCNC characters into the world; it gave way for good characterization. I'm curious to see how magic gets incorporated into the human world. I'm also wondering what Tyler's role in the story will be as he was in the role of the Game Master and doesn't have a corresponding character.
Phenomenal work; keep up the writing!

This is a fun read that reminds me most of the tabletop RPG's that I enjoy with family and friends. I even feel nostalgic! This story is well written with relatable characters, fun adventures, familiar dice rolls, and entertaining battles. Choice, Chance, and Consequence was a great journey worthy of my reading quests!

The first chapter yanked me in like an oversized, Saint Bernard dog on a short leash---shoot. I was right in the middle of this almost-fiasco of long-awaited game when no one shows up for the game party (totally got the ‘you have to eat pizza and chips by yourself’ reference too…too real on that one). Then, came more characters. I loved them all for different reasons, and they all added individually to the group. I was impressed with the way the author wrote the banter back and forth and the fact that the game rolls in the story were actually ones they were rolling while writing it! Cool detail!
I read till Chapter 5, but I can tell it’s heading to a suspenseful, sticky place. The game characters coming alive? I’m positive what has already been a pretty epic ride is only going to get wilder as things continue!
As far as the style and grammar, there was nothing that hindered my enjoyment of the story. Things flowed well, and it was easy to read, so perfect marks there. As I mentioned, the characters were great and the plot is only heating up. This one is definitely a 5/5 read. Give it a chance if you’re on the fence! It’s fun!!

This review was through chapter 5 of the story. I apologize for any spoilers, but there will likely be some.
    Story:
This story follows Derek and his friends as they gather for a final game night before their senior year begins. When their game master, Tyler, is delayed by a minor car accident, Derek and Nick decide to proceed with the session using an AI game master. The AI GM lacks the personal touch that Tyler brought to the game. Their session ends with catastrophic failure. I can tell you that these chapters remind me of so many D&D sessions that I have had over the years, that mark pivotal parts of my own life. Kudos to the author for capturing that in her story.
    Style:
This story is written in third person limited point of view. The focus is mostly on the thoughts and feelings of Derek and Nick. The overall tone of the story is just as you would suspect (in a good way). It is nostalgic and humorous. There are overtones of the bittersweet nature of growing up that speak to us all (particularly those who have played RPGs their whole lives).
    Grammar:
I listened to this using the Royal Road app, as I do most of my stories. And though I didn't get eyes on the actual text, I did not get pulled out of the story by errors. I don't tend to focus on this category on reviews as much as I do on the other categories, unless it is warranted. This story was perfect in the audio book experience (the only downside is that the app has AI read the story).
    Characters:
The main characters are Derek (who plays Milo), Nick (who plays Grizzizzik)), Tyler (the GM(, and Evelyn (who plays Clarissa). Other characters include Alejandra (who plays Hraktar), Rafael (who plays Ezekiel), and Walk (Nick and Evelyn's father). I particularly liked the banter between Derek and Nick about the sexual tension between their characters. That happens a lot in my campaigns for some reason. There are also game related jokes, that I appreciated (like dice jail, and bad rolls, etc.).
    Overall, the part of t
