- NatarajaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Apart from some realism problems the story is pretty good. It would have been nice to go faster though. The beginning of the tests should have been in chapter 3 or 4, it's too slow to wait for chapter 7!
- Style & Grammar
This is well written, no grammar, syntax nor style issues. The layout is good which makes the text pleasant to read. However, English is not my native language, so I may have missed some things...
- Story
A little girl goes alone to the city to study magic. It's very strange that her parents don't accompany her and that she's all alone on the road, without even being sure of where to go or of the selection conditions... it's very far-fetched. The world building is interesting though, with the mage cities and the selections to reside there. It is a bit surprising to see expressions using the word atom, or the author talking about TV that doesn't seem to fit the world.
- Character
A little girl, true genius, ready to embark on the path of magic. Her maturity and independence do not match her age at all, which is a bit disturbing. Unlike many other fictions she has a purpose in life that is announced from the beginning, which is good! I'm curious to see how her passion for magic will play out. The characters are also interesting, they have a history and goals but their behavior is generally not very realistic. - BullerRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0They were well done. I had a few issues with using things like 'tch' but that was more personal preference. Grammar was checked through and I couldn't find anything too bad. Paragraphs could be more varied in length to allow skim readers not to lose their place. Pacing is decent enough though it was hard to follow what was going on in the first chapter.
Good enough to read casually. 4/5 - woseRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Overall:
A fun YA fantasy tale about a young wizard discovering her powers. While the presnt tense presentation and the few cases of tense-hopping threw me off, I soon learned to enjoy the story and its characters.
Specific gripes:
Chapter 6's POV hopping was very disorienting and the author often doesn't make his scene changes very clear, which would sometimes throw memoff. Recommend taking scene transitions a smidge slower.
