- GlitterAndDoomRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This chapter perfectly balances action, humor, and genuine character depth. Chastity's internal monologue about prayer authenticity while literally fighting for her life in a cave is chef's kiss - it shouldn't work but it DOES because her character is so consistent. The combat is creative (javelin melee! skeleton rodeo!) without being gratuitous, and her choosing Radiant Light over flashier abilities shows practical wisdom that's refreshing in the genre. Love how the "wholesome" tag doesn't mean conflict-free - she's facing real danger but approaching it with faith and reason instead of edgy angst. The Screwtape Letters reference? Muah. This story knows its audience and delivers perfectly. Can't wait to see what cursed thing she finds next.
- SilverianRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's super refreshing to finally find a story where the MC is actually trying to be a real paladin. Including all the moral dilemma and inconveniences that cone with that.
Love the story and would recommend it to everyone also seeking a story about why someone should fight. And not just about a guy to good to reason or a guy who just wants to murder stuff for level ups. - jenerubRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Just like the author said, this is well writen and a great combination between two of my favorite authors. If you like LitRPG then I think you would like this. You have a girl that got transported in a Lord of the rings like world combined with the game world. She is learning a lot of the new world and it isn't frustrating. She doesn't really want to fight but fights when she has to.
- StudioBunBugRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Style - The story is distinctively fantastical, intentionally as in the
renaming of characters
And the names of the main characters. It’s my first experience with LitRPG, but for that made a favorable impression of the genre with a simple, intelligible system introduced gradually.
Story - I was expecting wholesome from the description, and in that respect was disappointed from early events in the story. As I read they were justified but not resolved, and there are still nagging details that I keep waiting to have resolved,
like when Chastity is going to remember that the Professor she cares about is in mortal peril.
But I kept on reading, and the story itself keeps me engaged and I am enjoying reading it. The story unfolds rather than overburdening early chapters with lore.
Grammar - I noticed no grammar errors and the intelligent use of tables (I’m guessing, I haven’t delved the formatting options for this site) made for a very appealing, readable RPG element of the story.
Character - The protagonist, aside from one nagging issue I’m guessing will come up again, is reasonably well-realized. She responds to the gamified environment in a reasonable manner and she has archetypical traits with a sprinkling of quirks. Secondary characters, including an antagonist, are less multidimensional, but then it’s RPG-style and only significant characters get development in my experience. I am disappointed in the antagonist, as very one-dimensional, but I’m holding out hope for character development. In any case, it’s a “wholesome” story and multidimensional villains can weaken a moral vein of a story. There are also additional characters that I have only just begun to see hints of.
