Story
At times I feel the story has abrupt changes before anything can settle. At first I was kinda expecting a more slice of life feel, as our MC is laid back and what was said in the synopsis. Rather than a slice of his life, we have the adventure instead with all it's ups and downs that's a little bit slower pace. The jerkyness between our MC and his life adds a chaotic effect, but it feels like he's rather unfazed by everything that is happening around him. Almost like it doesn't matter to him or it's not real.
An ally dies, remains unfazed.
An ally dies who he was slightly familiar with, remains unfazed after a few moments.
Makes me wonder what would happen if everyone in that town died, how would he react? He spent an entire month there... For some reason, I feel he would be sad for a brief time, but it wouldn't really faze him that much as he doesn't have much emmotional attachment.
I also understand that our MC pushes his feelings to the back burner, and these feelings attack him later like you did in a later chapter. I am only feeling that the interactions of the other members and scrutiny of other members don't trash talk our MC. Like noticing that he isn't grieving. They know he saved them, which is very adult of these guys. The town they were in were the location where people run to when they have no where else to go, which leads to adult like behavior of these mature adventurers. In the future, I imagine that adventurers that our MC will meet will vary in behavior...
Character
I thought it was interesting how the character seemed distant from others in his human life. He seemed to become friendly after meeting people who were friendly. That says alot for his life when he was still human.
When the curse child was first introduced, honestly I had a feeling she would be a future heroine in the story, that's the feeling I got. Situations one might find themselves in might seem dificult or impossible, but with effort you can overcome many issues. The excitem

Changing Oneself is an interesting story of a man who is distant from his emotions, and how his life is drasticaly altered when he is thrown into a faintisy world, a child's body, and an entierly different species. A curse bound to mana, his own bizzare strength, being dangerously adorable, headpats and even the dreaded ear-scratches are just a few things he will have to deal with if he ever hopes to figure out what exactly is actualy going on.
Looking forward to more of this story. It's well written and the charecters are show-not-tell done right though the MC appears to be the result of a horrific military experiment to increase adorable-kudere traits to a level of weaponized-adorable.
