- Harmonious Arkos SlothRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Fassbinder's newest work starts off strong with an ordinary hike escalating into an ocean of intriguing mystery as the protagonist, Vince, finds an ocean Oreo stranded on the beach and near death.
This whale isn't just an apex predator, though! In typical anime-inspired fashion, she is also a magical girl, albeit with the power to turn from a seal-yeeting murder hobo into a thicc, short-stack waifu.
The two quickly find themselves in new depths as Bayla, ocean Oreo princess, adjust to being human and Vince adjusts to a sapient whale/waifu.
However, there are others seeking Bayla for their own ends: Hunters. And these aren't gacha game players looking to flex in PvP.
As Bayla and Vince's different worlds expand and collide, the two find their fates bound together.
Fans of Magpie Wizard will find a lot to like here. Many similar elements, but the pacing is slower. If you like slice-of-life, you'll enjoy this. The action should ramp up soon, and promises to be most entertaining as new characters are introduced and more of the world is revealed.
Fassbinder's style hasn't changed. Straight-forward, and easy to read. A page-scroller, if you will. I was entertained enough to put off my usual nap cycle after a double shift to catch up from the first chapter. As a sloth, that's kind of a big deal.
If any of this sounds interesting, or even if you just find the great cover intriguing, give this one a shot. I'm sure you won't be disslothppointed.
