After suddenly being transported to a magical world, it seems that a legendary artifacts wants him to choose a life of epics. However, Joey doesn't want to be a hero; he just wants to make pastries and find a wife. - kronoscalamityRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Good: Its funny. Good grammar. Very few mistakes. Easy to understand system. Lorenzo. I love Lorenzo.
Bad:
So many plotholes. Mom is rich but Dad still works to death? Child genius can't win competitions/math puzzles that pay out millions of dollars and grows up in poverty? Doesn't want to go to college??? They would have paid for everything...Doesn't want to learn magic, but does it anyway? Can help the homeless, but doesn't care about the rest of the world?
Joey is stuck in limbo. He can't get over his past, he lost his "genius", he's constantly chasing superficial relationships despite his desire to wife up someone. He treats women like a trophy, a conquest. He doesn't understand the concept of a wife. His obsession with huge tits make him a huge pervert. If he loved his mother any more, I'd call him Oedipus.
And the author loves to fuck Joey over by just saying, "oh I forgot!" This convinient plot device that might progress the story. This will be the first Hero with Alzheimers, and to me reading that from a first person perspective would be absolute torture.
There are many more bad things I can say, but I'll stop for now.
I'd still read the story because I'm invested and I like a good redemption. - monoliithRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0alright I am done bud
Ima leave you a 5 star; always wanna help an author on here.
But the story was clearly not planned and is, at this point, meandering without purpose and I no longer find any enjoyment. I have basically skimmed the last 60 chapters except the duel and missed basically nothing of substance.
The 2 biggest tips I would suggest for you in the future
1) Women are just regular humans. PLAN OUT their character and STICK TO IT. They don't need to be hysterical, unreasonable, and vapid. They are literally just people. I don't know if you realize you even do it. But you tend to write women very much in the vein of Robert Jordan, and that is not a compliment
2) Write the ending of you story before you start. This might help you picture how you want the plot to develop, so you don't keep obviously losing the lead on your plot. - Boomy McBoomerfaceRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Light-hearted fun. The lead is an overly stereotypical sex motivated guy... which isn't something I'm looking for in a story but it doesn't get in the way too much either. Lots of well researched, well described scenes. Some recurring characters are still a little thin still but they're gradually filling in.
I'm trying to write a five-start review but instead I'm being overly critical. It makes up for it's flaws with novelty and charm. It's the story in my read-list I open first. - WertyTribolaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Honestly this is my kind of story, there isn't a chapter that doesn't make me laugh! I have to admit that that beginning was a little boring, even if it was also fun, seeing the guy going through that many cool items helped us to see that the story would be different, but it gave a feeling of "damn get what you want and get out of there somehow", but it's totally worth it, the only flaw of the story is that it doesn't have enough chapters 😆!
- YoYo3103Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I found this novel in rising stars and it's honestly the best slice of life I've read in a long time. I find it well paced and quite humorous.
Joey is quite an endearing protagonist even if his hatred for bureaucracy is down right excessive and his tendency to flirt with every girl he meets.
I could find no problems with the grammar while reading and even if there were any problems my reading experience was just as marvelous.
The story is well thought out and you can see that the author has put in a lot of effort into this rewrite and successfully elevated the novel to be the most pleasant read he can.
The character has his own flaws and is a highly proficient baker in his own right.
The baking knowledge in the story seems correct(I kind of skimmed over it)
If the first 3 or 4 chapter are not your cup of tea, I reccomend powering through till at least the 10th chapter before deciding if you would want to drop the story.
All in all a fantastic read, would definitely reccomend down with some snacks and spending an afternoon reading it. It's a gem of a story I am quite happy to have found - farcar4Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Funny italian man makes bread in fantasy world. He is the type of male sleaze bag you wouldn't trust with your sister but probably the best friend you've had since highschool whom you havent found a strong enough reason to ditch in another country. And he seems to be on the way of becoming the magical archmage baker that will bring peace ond prosperity to the galaxy err i mean kingdom.
- jaugRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Love this story, its light hearted and not so serious. I find my self busting out in a laugh usually at least once a chapter. Keep up the good work. Jesus christ this is me just typing in more words to hit the 50 word mark. God know how anyone could get there point across in less than 50 words.
- DaghoulRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I read a lot of fiction and a good portion of it is crap. Usually I can tell something of the writer by how and what he writes and while this isn't usually the kinda of story I like to read it grows on you.At the beginning it started of slow and I couldn't tell where the author was going but I stuck with and found that I quite liked the story. Next spelling sentence structure and pacing where quite good sometimes you come across errors or places where the author doesn't quite understand English and these spots can throw you off the story. I'm happy to say this wasn't the issue here. Finally for the author if you read this I hope you keep writing I would certainly enjoy reading more of this story and maybe you should consider publishing this when you finish it if someone hasn't suggested this to you yet. Excellent story .
- FJBRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Okay, let’s just get this out of the way right now: yes, the MC isn’t going to jive with some readers. He’s got a very boisterous, confident personality, for all that he complains about being on luck’s bad side, and he’s certainly not afraid to take his chances with women, no matter how out of his league or inappropriate the situation is for flirting. That’s just who Joey is. If that’s a problem, you’re probably going to have a tough time finding enjoyment in this story.
However, if that isn’t a problem, if you enjoy characters who are so overconfident it borders on mania (and one who actually is a bit manic in other regards) then this story is a laugh-out-loud riot. The MC knows exactly what he wants in life, and not even pesky things like destiny or circumstance will keep him from achieving his goals. No heroes here, just a man who wants to bake bread and settle down with a nice elven wife. If he has to master advanced magic in a matter of days that normally takes others weeks, or attend the most prestigious school in the land, or, heaven forbid, actually be a hero, in order to achieve those goals? Well, that’s just a minor inconvenience in the name of happiness.
Story— Finding himself portaled to a fantasy realm where everyone and everything is about classes and levels, the plot does an amazing job with balancing out its storyline (somewhat begrudgingly, but it does) and the more slice-of-life aspects. It’s as equally fun to see Joey show a medieval society his more advanced baking techniques as it is seeing him practically tortured into learning magic, to watch him deal with bigots or trying to make friends with the downtrodden. No fights, just people interacting in the best way possible.
Style— I like the way this author writes, his story leaps from one subject to the next with the pacing of a crazed squirrel. Much of that is representative of the MC and some of his quirks, so it fits well with the overall theme. A few sections hyperfocus on Joey’s neuroses a b - Im4outdoorsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I don’t know how to feel about this book. At first glance, this was a filler book. However, when I looked back, I realized that it had done a lot of things very well. The main character is a joy to follow. Goofy and humble, yet extremely competent. I find many books have tried but failed to create a character like this. There are a lot of things going for it that make the world seem so real. It’s hard to point them out without spoiling it, but I do need to talk about this aspect because I loved it.
SPOILER:
The way race is handled in this book is like something you won’t find on this site. The elves are racist. I think the saying hurt people hurt people fits. I don’t know how to explain it. Of course there are the very vocal and proactive human hate groups, but it’s not the worst part. It’s the people that he lets in close that end up hurting him the most. It’s the small things that these people do that just keep piling up. Even though it may be an ignorant comment, it shows a dark side that exists from their upbringing. It truly makes you feel that even though he is surrounded by people who like him, he is in some ways still alone.
